Suspicious blue eyes followed a young, dark form as Cassius lingered in the area. The Flame Grotto wasn't usually a place he hung around, but it wasn't like he was there without a purpose. The dusty colored male found himself crouched behind a fallen tree as he observed Casper. Happy little bastard. The younger male intrigued Cassius, but also brought suspicion to him. He had heard word of the child's parents, but they all sounded like rumors to him. Sweet gossip. The idea of it gave Cassius a satisfied feeling. Although he would say that he cared less about the affairs of the pride, there were some things that he just had to know for himself. He would always enjoy a bit of blackmail. Maybe this was the only strength he had. Anyway, he had seen this one and some other hanging around Asesino, but the child's father was skeptic. Cocaine? Jasper? Well.. which one was it? Both, he had perhaps heard? Ah.. absurd! Of course, Cassius could have gone up to anyone else and asked about the parents, but this method was a lot more involved. As if he would learn anything by scrutiny. Cassius ducked out of view, and then hauled himself onto the fallen tree. He padded along the trunk, deciding that his appearance upon the scene would be subtle. Of course, fortune had other plans in mind. As he walked across the wood, it splintered under his weight and caused his paw to fall through. He pulled it out of the tree and groaned. So much for being sneaky. The male jumped down from the log and limped towards the hot water, his paws stinging from slivers of wood. "Hmph.. You there!" He decided to call out, looking displeased at the situation but curious nonetheless.
ooc » I hope this is okay. If not you can tell him to go away. Lol |

Cassius stared up at the dark figure on the mound and flicked his ears as Casper spoke. He looked down suddenly, unsure now of what to say. He must seem small compared to the creature above him. He hadn't actually thought about what he was going to say. The male stood there with his mouth open for a few minutes more before he said anything. "Ah.. yes. Guilty as charged, I'm afraid. Please accept my apologies.. er.. tree." He wasn't being sarcastic, but he was still far from serious. How would he word this to not sound weird? He coughed and looked around in mock curiosity. "Say, are your parents around?" He started to climb the hill. "I've been looking for.. both of them." Well, that was probably the best he could do, and that was sort of sad. He wondered if the younger male would fall for it, or at least give him some kind of hint. "So. How might you suppose one would get a hold of them? By naame.. or surnaame.. Or name. Names are good, no?" He quirked an eyebrow at the boy as he waited for an answer. "Speaking of which, I didn't seem to catch yours."

CASPER
[/i] He said when Cassius apologized to the tree. It showed that Casper had some sort of deep care for those around him; be they actually alive or not. Casper shrugged at Cassius's question "They're around somewhere. Being busy with duties or stuff. If it's urgent I can probably get them for you. But I doubt it's urgent.. your tone doesn't hint at something like that. Uh..." He trailed on, a little confused. Was this guy dropped as a cub or something? "Uh, yeah.. names are good. Cocaine and Jasper. It's hard to miss either. One's a high rank and the other is a giant beast." Casper chuckled at the thought of his parents; he really did love them both. Even if distance was.. a bit of an issue. "Casper. And yours?"[/ul][/blockquote]

Cassius climbed onto the hill, but kept a fair distance from the child. He knew that he was probably scaring him. He didn't usually come off too strong; it was usually the opposite. Perhaps he just wasn't used to interacting with those younger than him. "Ah.. yes. I see. No, no. Not urgent at all, I assure you." He paused for a few moments as he thought about the younger male's words. Quite interesting.. For a minute, Cassius was at a loss for words. His parents were.. Jasper and.. his own father? He wondered how romantically involved they were, but he shuddered thinking about it."Jasper.. Crimson?" But.. they were two males having a kid. The idea was unheard of to Cassius. But for whatever reason, it sparked his curiosity. His rigid ears gave a stiff twitch. "Oh, yes. It's a pleasure.. Casper. Myself? I would be Cassius." The pale brown mix of a feline stood there as he stared off at something in the distance past Casper, trying not to think about the science or sorcery or whatever it was behind the existence of a child born from two males. He gave his head a shake before looking back to his half-sibling. He hesitated, unsure of how Casper might respond. He seemed fairly accepting of the whole thing, but then again, why wouldn't he be? "Well. I suppose that makes us half-brothers. You see, Cocaine is my father as well."

CASPER
[/i] Casper said. It was normal to him. He had two dads, both very capable of kicking some serious ass. That being one of the large reasons that Casper felt okay. If anything happened to him, either dad could do some serious damage! "Nice to meet you then, Cassius. And.. I guess so. Who is your other dad, then?" Casper asked. The idea of Cassius having a mother didn't cross his mind; even though most of those born had a mother and not a second father. [/ul][/blockquote]

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,30,true][atrb=width,470,true][bg=3D0002]» CASSIUS & TOBERON «Cassius nodded in confirmation, still seeming rather interested in how this conversation even became possible. He looked to Casper curiously as he asked Cassius about his dads. He shook his head, looking a little more confused than usual. The thought hadn't even seemed to occur to him that he didn't have two dads. But now, he realized, that two male parents were indeed a possibility. However, he would not seek out either of the younger male's parents and inquire about Casper. That would be on the stranger side, even for Cassius. "My other father? Ah.. You see.. I have a mother instead. Her name is Stella." He flicked his tail a little, wondering if Casper would understand.
A small tan figure sniffed around the spot Cassius had been hiding. Dark blue hair was barely visible as Toberon peered over the fallen log and then stuck his head down in the hole. He withdrew his head, and replaced it with a small paw that batted at the splintered wood within. Toberon hadn't even considered that he may have committed the most unthinkable of cubhood misdemeanors. The young male wasn't very old, but he had wandered away anyway, further into the Shadow Veldt than he had ever gone before. He found himself in a land of steam and red hot rocks. The distance from him and his family probably wasn't all that great, but to Toby, it may as well have been miles. Following was an innocent enough act. First a cricket, then his nose, then a crime. Hmm.. Yellow eyes scanned over the log, then flickered up to where the two half-siblings were conversing. Toberon picked up a piece of the broken bark in his jaws and slowly made his way up the hill. Within several minutes, Toberon was near the top, standing behind a dusty brown male. He tugged at his flicking tail.
Cassius's thoughts were interrupted by another cub. He turned and looked down, jerking his tail away and out of his grasp. "Your smell is all over this. Do you know what it is?" The young cub asked him, setting down the splintered wood. Cass snorted. "Hmh. Clearly a stick. Did you want to play fetch? Now, it's rude to interrupt." He swept the wood away with his tail and then opened his jaws to speak again. Toberon didn't seem to learn his lesson. He piped up before Cassius could say anything else. "Wrong! It was bark, dummy. From that tree you tripped over!" he huffed, then suddenly turned his attention to Casper while Cassius muttered something along the lines of: "Hmph, I didn't trip." "Hello!" He chirped to the male who was closer to his age, ignoring the older male's grumpiness. He offered a friendly grin as he trotted closer, seeming to be over the loss of his chunk of bark.

CASPER & FARRAH
[/i] Casper finally stated, huffing quietly as he mumbled something just beneath his breath. And then another cub came bouncing through. So much for his quiet time alone. Farrah hopped and jumped right up to her brother, Cassius and Casper. She offered a wild grin and then turned her head to whee the bark had been brushed aside. Immediately she got into a crouch and leaped forward onto the bark with snapping jaws. "Grrr hah!" She said and tossed the bark into the air, batting it toward Toberon. "Hi guys!"[/ul][/blockquote]

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,30,true][atrb=width,470,true][bg=3D0002]» CASSIUS & TOBERON «Toberon was a little disappointed at the other male's reaction. Fear tugged at him as he sat down, afraid that the other cub now hated him. "Me? I didn't do a thing! That tree is already dead. Look! I wasn't the one who squished it." He pointed down at the wooden structure below and turned his head so he could see it, missing the dirty look he received from Cassius. Toberon could sense the presence of his sister. "Aaaargh, a girl!" He groaned, peeking at the other two males as if looking for some sort of approval. The big dusty one seemed to be in his own little world now. Toberon turned his head as Farrah bounced up. Despite his complaining, he turned to her excitedly, glad that someone he was familiar with had joined them. He crouched into a playful position and jumped as the bark was flung towards him. He batted it out of the air and it landed in front of him. He kicked it back towards his sister. He was glad that at least someone was enjoying his gift of bark. His fears seemed to be forgotten as his focus drifted more towards his sister. "Did you follow me here?"

CASPER & FARRAH
[/i] Protested the young female. She turned her head to Casper, who was looking at both of them now . "Wanna join us?" Farrah asked. Casper shrugged his shoulders and glanced at Cassius once more. "Uh, I guess. How do you play, do you just toss it back and forth?" He asked.[/ul][/blockquote]

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,30,true][atrb=width,470,true][bg=3D0002]» CASSIUS & TOBERON «Cassius watched the cubs with a blank stare. He stood up and backed away the moment they started playing. Impractical, was automatically his first thought, a waste of their time. Why didn't they have to train as cubs like he did? Anyone else might have taken this opportunity to play with or train the cubs, but Cassius knew he was not good with children. He observed for a few minutes more. "Pardon me," he finally said, looking at Casper, "My presence is needed elsewhere. It was a pleasure." He nodded at his half-brother, suggesting that he was glad they had gotten to familiarize himself with him. He liked him better then some of his own siblings already. The older male made his way down the slope. On the way down, he paused to look over his shoulder. Would he get in trouble for leaving them by themselves? It hadn't really occurred to him that being the oldest one would come with a bit of responsibility. "Ah.. Don't go snooping around in the Grotto. It's dangerous down there," he cast those words upwards to the group. It was the least he could do. Probably the minimum.
Toberon seemed indifferent to Cassius wandering away. That guy was grumpy.. and lame. Things would be funner without him anyway. No grown-ups! The young cub pounced on the bark as it was tossed his way, and kept it under his paw. He looked over at Casper, who seemed like he hadn't done this before. Toby, however, had started life with many playmates. Playing with them was his second favorite thing to do, right after seeing new things in the Veldt. The young cub crouched down and swiped the object of play in Casper's direction. "Far' it's okay if you did, I won't tell Mom or Dad.. this time!" he giggled, teasing his sibling. He looked up at Casper, then took a few moments to study the darker cub's expression. He tilted his head, and then returned to his playful crouch. "Yeah you can play! My name is Toberon, by the way. You can just say Toby though." He was suddenly distracted by an ant crawling near his paw. He put his paw over it to catch it, but it was gone when he lifted up his paw. Escaped again. "We can play keep-away, too! Or hide-and-seek.. or that tagging game. I've never been to this part of the Veldt before." He seemed quite enthused at the idea of playing games in this new area with their new friend.

CASPER & FARRAH
[/i] He said to his half-brother before his attention returned to Toberon and Farrah. Cassius's last parting words didn't go unnoticed, though. Casper kept it mentally noted not to go near the Grotto. Farrah rolled her eyes and batted playfully at her brother. "I didn't, though, I swear!" She protested again and then looked at Casper. "Yeah! What my brother said. And I'm Farrah, or Farr for short, I guess. Whatever works best!" She said and then turned to listen to her brother. Casper gave each a nod, acknowledging what they said. He'd wait until they finished talking to butt in. "Sure, that all sounds good, but that adult dude said stay away from the Grotto, so you know what that means, right?" Farrah asked with a grin. Casper tilted his head. "It means stay away from the Grotto. And my name is Casper."Farrah sighed and rolled her eyes. "Nooo silly! It means we gotta investigate the grotto!"[/ul][/blockquote]

He stopped this play when Farrah began speaking again. He stood up, still excited but now thinking about their options. "Oh, then what a co-incadence!" He looked back to Casper, wondering if he had a point and if it was something they shouldn't do. Though.. Farrah didn't seem to think it was a very bad idea. For a few moments, Toby didn't know what to think. "I think.. I think... That that guy was a grump and he just doesn't want us to have fun down there. There's probably some cool stuff that they're hiding! We gotta see!" He started running down the slope, looking for the entrance. He stumbled over his cubbish paws and landed at the bottom, but he didn't seem too phased by it. He shook off his pelt, chunks of moss fell from his fur. "Wait! Um I think I just remembered that someone lives around here." He waved his tail, wondering if they should be quieter with their approach. What if they were still around? What if they had heard their plans? Still, the lure of the forbidden place was strong. Yellow eyes looked back to Casper and Farrah, wondering what they had in mind.

[/i] Casper murmured. Farrah shrugged. "We'll be fine. And okay brother." She said quietly. Her eyes darted around the area. Doing something they were told not to was exciting! "Who lives down here anyway? Maybe we can see if they're asleep and mess with them?" She said mischievously. Casper groaned quietly and shook his head, as if to say that was a bad idea.[/ul][/blockquote]
