Grenade Donovan, Marius Iden-Donovan, Zenith KainThese recent days had been stressful and sad, and to say he missed his mother was an understatement. He loved her like any proud son, always looking to do little things to earn her respect just the same as he did for his father--and with her missing, the already weakening ties to his cubhood were falling apart. Adolescence was upon him in full force but he did not fall victim to depression or negative emotions--even here he seemed to have already grasped at his identity, and it led him to fill his time with trying to assist Caine when he could, as well as his siblings, nieces and nephews, and lastly, to the little cub they'd swept up from their battle with La Morte. Zenith. His focus certainly stayed on Caine for the most part, fearing, in some part, that he'd lose him too. He made sure not to encroach upon the time they all needed to grieve, but for the rest of it, he was willing to be a little spark of light.
In front of the throne, he kicked around a decent sized pebble, sliding it across the grass and stones. Ahead of him was the monochrome, blue-eyed youth Zenith, batting at it, trying to steal it away from him. It was a game quite like floor hockey in which there were two goals and any number of felines could play. They used two rocks to signal the goals respectively.
"Where's it gonna go? This way? Orrrr maybe this way? Ha!" Marius kicked it right underneath her, bounding around before she could quite recover from a slight stumble and heading toward the goal.
"No you won't! Not on my watch!" She'd make a break to sprint ahead of him while he was occupied with not losing their 'puck', and bat at his paws to knock it from his reach.
- -
Fresh in from a small hunt, a hare to quench the hunger that thoughtfulness invoked upon his stomach, the growing spy passed before the throne eyeing those that were around. He paused for a moment to watch the ongoing game, pondering interrupting it to serve as an in-field distraction but his eyes fell on a rock similar to what they were using. Hmm! He kicked it their way, and in the split moment they looked up to see him and looked back down, there were now two pucks and who the hell knew which was the original.
"Hey no interfering!" Marius called out to him, but it was Zenith who chucked one of the pucks back, to which the male lifted a paw so as to shield himself and laughed. They continued their game after that so he stopped harassing 'em.
Looking over he spotted Caine and Nerry, and looked back at the other two a moment before deciding he'd come over to give his greeting. He had not spoken with Caine much since things had gone down, respecting his space, but a moment of rest sounded nice and perhaps he would be accepting of his presence. He approached therefor and dipped his head in greeting, speaking their names, offering the cub a smirk. "Caine, Nerry."
Perhaps a bit rudely he didn't ask to lay down and merely did as he pleased. "He makes a good slide, hmm?" He said to Nerry.

ZEPHYR IDEN-DONOVAN He wasn't home much those days.
It just reminded him of how Viciado wasn't there.
Granted, he had his father, brother and sister and nephew to keep company.. but the question was always there in his mind. Where had she gone? Why didn't she say goodbye? Or anything like that? All that he had were the memories of the night before she disappeared, where they bid each other goodnight and he had nuzzled her leg, same as always.
"I love you too, Ma." And then she was gone, one of his nephews dies and Meurtrier is thrown in array. Nerante stays away more often, trying to organise the vigil and Balthier was distant as well. Everyone was. It was a sad time. They were a happy, little family who worked hard with the pride they were related to, but now they couldn't even stand the sight of each other. Zephyr was bored, depressed. Nike wasn't around as much as he wanted him to be, the pride was too busy to have anything to do with him so he resigned to heading back to the den. Paw steps slowly making their way through the Veldt, desperately hoping that the scent of his mother would just appear, he'd run into their den and there she was, safe and sound. But no. Nothing. He heard voices playing, and it was definitely Marius and Zenith. Seems like they had been playing around again, having fun, trying to forget things. Zephyr wished he could do the same.. but he was too sensitive. And he wasn't really familiar with Zenith anyway. She just came out of nowhere, and she played with them sometimes. The teenager stood and wondered if he should go join them, see if he could give the game a go. He thought about it.

CAINE, NERRY
He said, climbing back up to repeat his actions from before. It brought a small smile to Caine's face. Enjoy your youth, lad, enjoy it. He lifted his gaze to Grenade finally, not wanting to be completely rude to his brother-in-law. "How're you?" He asked. Not that Caine cared to hear it in all honesty.. he was just being polite. Nerry slid down his back, and Caine considered sending Nerry to play with Marius, Zenith, and presumably Zephyr.... but the thought of taking Nerry from his sights hurt. He couldn't do it, and besides, Nerry was enjoying himself.[/ul][/blockquote]

Jaenil Iden | Iarri Kannon
A few hours back a small cub had wondered into the healers den. It was one of Nerante's that had sought him out. Yet he hadn't been there at the time. Instead Iarri had kept close eye on the little 'ess. Soon after Jaenil had fallen asleep. Now Iarri carried the half woken cub into the day. Bright blues spotted Caine, Nerry and a male she was not familiar with. She had seen his face but his name escaped her. "Hello Caine." She greeted with a purr. Throughout her long hours and days with Viciado, Iarri had come to look to Caine as a father figure. She much preferred the love and compassion the two mates had shared over the mistrust and constant frolicking of her own parents. She sat Jaenil down, the cub giving a sleepy yawn but quickly recovering upon spying her brother. With a giggle she was on her paws and tackling her grandfather's tail. "She had fallen asleep waiting on Nerante. But I figured I wouldn't let her sleep all day or Ryssor will be up all night." The red 'ess tilted her head toward the cubs, smiling contently. Her kind gaze moved to other male. "Hello." She greeted politely. Then realization dawned and her ears lowered in embarrassment. "I'm not interrupting something am I?"

Grenade Donovan, Marius Iden-Donovan, Zenith KainZenith had caught sight of Zephyr first, and her gaze lured Marius' over. He visibly looked sullen and it tugged at the male's heartstrings. Indeed, not everyone was as fortunate as him to escape the sorrow, but that's what he was here for. To assist, in any way he could. "Hey Zeph!" He called out, pausing the game a moment, though Zenith took her chance to knock the puck from him, sending him scrambling to get it back. "Want to join a team or play goalie?" He didn't mind which side his brother took--Zenith was smaller and younger so it was a little unfair to match himself against her, but at the same time, having Zephyr on her team made it unfair for him. Perhaps another would enter though and even the odds.
Grenade regretted not having made more of an attempt to be close to Viciado's and Caine's family before now, but it was a bitterness he'd have to swallow and continue on with or without. He chuckled at Nerry, appreciating the glee only cubs could be so filled with. "I should be asking you that." A halfhearted twitch of the corner of his lips, and he'd turn his gaze away and to the ongoing game. "Concerned for a lot of things, but well." He'd choose his words carefully. He may doubt Nerante but Caine was not in a position to hear of that and so while his words were ambiguous, he meant them more directly. Caine was his current concern, whether he needed anything, but he couldn't find the words to ask so freely of such things. He wasn't a pleaser, whether he cared or didn't.
Jaenil and Iarri approached just then, and he watched them, listening though not commenting until spoken to. "Hey. And no. A simple, direct reply. "I stopped by to say hello." His gaze detached itself to watch the Nerry and Iarri play.

ZEPHYR IDEN-DONOVAN Zephyr was caught to attention, out of his deliberating. If it had been any other time, he would have taken the offer with a sporting effort, a smile and some enthusiasm. But he wasn't in the mood. And having to reject the offer was harsh enough on him. "Eh? No thanks, Zen. Maybe later." He replied, finally, and turned to his brother. "Hey Marius, you seen Dad around? I gotta go check in with him and tell him I'm still alive." He gave a soft smirk, but it was hard to keep it going for long.

CAINE, NERRY
He murmured and then turned his attention to Iarri with a soft smile. "Of course not. You're welcomed to stay with us and talk, unless you have to return to your nurse duties. Which I'll understand, dear." Caine said. His ear twitched. Was that Zephyr talking nearby? It was faint.. but it had to be. He loudly cleared his throat. "Zephyr! We're just over the throne, behind it!" He shouted out, hopeful it was Zephyr and that his son would make an appearance.[/ul][/blockquote]

Syn Iden-Donovan After talking to Balthier II, Syn had decided maybe she should see her father. It took a bit of courage. She didn't want to see the one male in her life that was SUPPOSED to be strong crumpled into a broken mess. Her head hung low as she slowly headed toward the gathering. A gathering she had not even expected. She froze, her head picking up to see so many. Her siblings. Her family. She had isolated herself after her mother's... She had also become a mute. Only choosing to speak when she felt she truly had to. She looked to the family gathered around and lowered her head again. Was she supposed to be happy to see them? She wasn't. She was.. But she wasn't. They weren't whole.. Not without Viciado... ? ? ? A dark figure stood in the shadows of the gathering. Her body low to the ground and her movements silenced. A shadow obscured everything about this cat. Even blurring the outline of her body. The mountains provided lovely shade. Though that itself was not enough to cloak a being in darkness. For that, the crafty ess used distance. A familiar figure was among the crowd. But she couldn't see the group well being so far. It mattered not. Only one being the beast had come for. And she watched who she assumed to be that being like a hawk.

Grenade Donovan, Marius Iden-Donovan, Zenith KainMarius opened his mouth to reply to his brother when Caine called to alert him, so he merely shut his mouth with a smile and gestured his head in their father's direction. He deserved a little rest and recoup with him. What he did do however was, after he'd resumed a little unfair roughhousing with Zenith, was call out a greeting to Syn whom he caught in his peripheral. He was glad to see her--she'd been an even rarer sight than Zeph, and he sorely missed their former more closely knit lifestyle.
Grenade nodded in quiet agreement with Caine. Yes, it would age them faster, and it certainly felt like it'd done so to him--but he could live with those consequences, or so he told himself. At least he had things to busy himself with--having copious amounts of free time just felt plain wrong, though he of course enjoyed relaxing as much as the next person. The fur on his neck tickled however; he felt... like he was being watched. He didn't see from where though, so it was hard telling if he was imagining things or not. He swallowed the thought after a moment, assuming the latter.

ZEPHYR DONOVAN-IDEN Zephyr heard the call, and gave a small nod and joined his brother towards heading the encampment, bidding Zenith farewell.. for now, anyway. Pawing along mindlessly, into the arms of his father, his nephew and his uncle. Briefly surprised, Zephyr looked over at Grenade - he knew him, but he hadn't seen him around much. It was interesting to see him in the camp.
"Hey, we're here." He said, moving over to sit down next to his father and Nerry, giving a brief smile at the young cub. He was reminded so much of Balthier II from the cub.

Grenade Donovan, Marius Iden-Donovan, Zenith KainMarius and Zenith continued roughhousing and trying to score goals.
Marius: 2 ; Zenith: 1
Grenade meanwhile tipped his head in greeting to Zephyr and replied to Caine. "As well as can be expected." A simple reply. His days consisted mostly of his duties, and then he'd had the fortune of spending time with Sepheral recently--although he wouldn't divulge such information to Caine. To cast doubt openly upon Nerante was a fool's move, and Caine had better matters to focus on, namely clawing his way up and out of the sinking pit he might have found himself in, or so Grenade figured.

Syn Iden-Donovan Syn felt even more alone in the gathering. Her father was busy talking with others and she wouldn't interrupt him. Marius acknowledged her at least. She moved to sit by him. She didn't speak. She wouldn't speak anymore. Or so she had vowed. Not unless Viciado came back. The youngster didn't truly understand that her mother was gone forever. She knew, deep down.. But her grief forced that knowledge away. She nudged her brother to say hi. She did miss the closeness they once had. But it was a small comfort for now. ? ? ? The figure remained in the shadows. She wouldn't interrupt the gathering. She didn't care to see anyone other than the male her eyes were locked on. It was funny.. How life was. So fickle and unpredictable. Born in a pride of hate. Raised to hate. Her mother wasn't really there, but the ess had her anger. But what was it all for? The leaders of her birthpride taught her how to harness her hate and she turned that hate upon he siblings. Wanting to kill them and 'rid' her genepool of failures. She just never realized how vast the pool was. But as she grew she learned not to waste her time on foolish endeavors. Though one thing still stood. Her hate for Meurtrier. FEAR and this pride had been enemies before. She was raised to hate them and that would not go away so easily. Yet here she was. On their doorstep yet again. FEAR was gone and the ess had no true home. So she thought to pay a visit. Maybe cause a bit of trouble. Kill a cub or two. Haggle some of the members. Then vanish. But instead, she found something MUCH more interesting. Her brother...

CAINE, NERRY
He said. Caine wasn't exactly one for many words either. In fact, the most he'd spoken in months was during the trial, when he yelled out in anger against Stella for her alleged crimes against Damien, Caine's grandson.[/ul][/blockquote]
