God damn.
It had felt like just a few minutes ago that the whole thing just happened. The whole.. death.. and despair. It was horrible to comprehend. They were arranging a burial and everything, but Ry had to get away from Meurtrier. At least for a while. She didn't want to be judged by anyone, asked by anyone, teased by dysfunctional beings.
So as such, she found herself on the edge on the pride borders, just staring out to the nothingness of the void. Shadow Veldt was a beautiful place on its own, but it was flanked by some horrid landscape. She could see where the edges of the fluffy green grass ended, replaced by dry, arid dirt. What a place they lived in.
She'd been avoiding Cocaine as well. He was in full pride-business mode and at the same time, giving off an air of almost clinging concern for her, even if he wasn't 'normal' in the way he showed it. She just wanted to be alone.
But fate wouldn't even let her. Because something hit her in the face. A scent. It sent back spine chilling memories of an earlier life and for a second, flashbacks danced through her eyes.
"No daughter of mine.."
"Treason?!"
"What the hell, sis? Really?!"
"Life in prison.."
"No one escapes from here.. you're here forever."
"LEONTIYEV!"
Her body snapped awake, back to the present and she shook her head. Everything hurt all of a sudden. The leg she had broken.. it was flaring up as if she had broken it just a year ago. But no..
Someone from Malvaca was here.
Shit. Shit shit shit shit.
Only Nerante had known that she wasn't who she was. Luckily that he was stupid enough to not say anything.. but this was bad. Jolting into action, she had to find the stranger before anyone else did. Otherwise, bad news.
And it didn't take long before she rounded a hill and came face to face with someone she never ever expected to see in her life.
".. D-Dimitri?"

Her brother.. ? Here?
Suddenly everything felt like she was back at home.. home down at the Malvaca pride. She half expected for someone else to pop out as well and say that they found her, but nothing happened. It was him and him alone. Ry just stared at the young man before her, trying to comprehend. Many questions flooding her mind.
"I.. what.." She stammered, blinking and shaking her head. "What the.. what the hell are you doing here?" Her voice dropped to a lowly growl - now her life here was somewhat compromised and she suppressed her relief at at least seeing a friendly face. But she wasn't going to ruin her life here for him.

DIMITRI
doing here?! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE?! Leontiyev you're supposed to be dead." Dimitri hissed with anger and shook with confusion and rage. "How can you ask me what I'm doing here when YOU'RE here too?!" He spat out, bristling like a frightened kitten.[/ul][/blockquote]

LEONTIYEV "I'll ask first because you were the darling little prince of the pride and darling little princes shouldn't be out here." She snapped back, almost falling into her childish routine of being condescending to her little half-brother. For a moment, she was indignant that Dimitri would say such a thing to her in such a tone, but then she realised..
She was dead. Well.. supposed to be. What did she expect?
The female went on. "Okay so, I'm supposed to be dead. But I'm not. I suppose you heard about the riot and how we all broke out of prison? Figures it'd reach the pride." A huff of breath and a grin. "At least now I know they aren't looking for me. So.. surprised?"

LEONTIYEV "What now?" Leontiyev repeated, thinking exactly the same thing. It was certainly an awkward situation. Her brother turns up here.. all alone. For a moment in her head, she wondered if he had done the same thing she had; rebelled against the pride, committed treason.. but no. Dimitri wasn't as stupid as she was.
She lashed her tail and sat down, looking to the side in earnst before giving a small sigh. "Well.. I suppose I should explain myself. Unless you're going to go back home and tell everyone I've been deceiving them for a year and a bit?"
Of course, she wouldn't let him do that. Despite how fucked up things were here, involving Meurtrier and Malvaca together wasn't the most ideal thing. Especially in the time of war.
However, a look from her eyes to her brother said that she wished that he wouldn't do that. That he would be as sensible as he always was and would stay and listen.

LEONTIYEV The older female scrutinized her brother immensely, but in the end they had had a good relationship, so she was willing to take the risk. After he sat down, she did too and went silent. Back to her thoughts, where to start to all this. She checked to make sure that no one was around to hear, not Cocaine, not Lord Funeral, not her children, not anyone; it was private enough for only her own brother to hear.
"Well, you know what happened back home," She began, bringing up those memories of when she got sick of her life, her stepmother treating her horribly, her father not being attentive to her needs which caused her to act out. "We had that scuffle with the Giovanni pride and I was asked to kill Giovanni cubs, but I refused so I attacked the Commander and was charged with treason. The trial and all that came afterwards."
That trial was all too familiar. She had spent a week in solitary confinement in the canyons, where the Malvaca pride took residence. No contact for ages, just food and water and her own thoughts. It had made her angry.
"I was charged with, as you know, treason and assault and so I was escorted off to 'that' prison, the one that shall not named. I was thrown into the lioness section and spent my weeks there, mingling with those who committed worse crimes than I did. Some days there were rumours of prison breaks in the other sectors and this had everyone on edge. And then things calmed down for a bit.
And then there was that night. A storm rippled through the place and it.. well, it bought the place down. The roof collapsed in some places, the walls were fragile and falling apart and the guards were trying to suppress everyone. But eventually it turned into a full riot where we overpowered the on-duty guards. Me and a murderer broke off from the main group and we managed to find the long pathway that snaked around the prison, that the guards usually took. The plan was to get to the structually weak part of the prison and hope that there were holes to escape out of.
Obviously it was a stupid idea but in the heat of the moment we were desperate. These were tough guys and we were hungry, weak, angry. We were on the west side - I knew because I could see the jungle from my side and I was trailing ahead when suddenly, the roof collapsed on us. Last I saw of my companion, the murderer. She was crushed to death.. or maybe escaped. I never saw a body. But the roof was now open and I climbed my way out.
Just my luck, there were guards all around the perimeter, waiting for anyone who slipped out to knock them out or possibly kill them." She paused, sighing. "The things I could you tell, Dimitri, the things that happened there.. I was desperate enough to escape that I charged them head on. A large group.. four or five, converged on me but I used speed and tactics to outsmart them. Thought it was a good idea to head into the jungle, lose them in the undergrowth. But my scent was too strong - by that point I was reeking of sweat, so they could follow me wherever I went.
So I did my other stupid thing. I jumped into a river. A river that led straight over a waterfall. Over I went, I hit the bottom and knocked myself out. I was spared of pain for the moment and I presume they thought I was dead because when I wake up, washed onto shore, I wasn't back in prison.. or dead. But I had walked away with a broken leg."
To demonstrate herself, Leontiyev straightened out her right leg. Dimitri might not have seen the damage, but she was feeling the small stings and ripples that went up everytime she moved it. It had become dull after a while, but it was still there. "Never healed fully, you see. I wasn't exactly the best at mending myself up, so it's sort of the wrong way and still hurts to walk. Hasn't stopped me from hunting though.
To celebrate my newfound freedom, I proceeded to take as much water as I could put into myself and hunt for scraps in the jungle. I ate random fruit, felt better, got poisoned, lost that food, fought for scraps.. I don't know how I survived. Some days I just wanted to bash my head against a rock.. or go back the way I came. Either way I was going to die. But I persisted on. My leg eventually healed and I went along my merry way. At the time I was thinking about just being on the road continuously, living off prides and their scraps and that was my original intention when I found Meurtrier. And now.. I made home here. And believe it or not.. I'm happy here."
Leontiyev gave a large breath and awaited Dimitri's reaction to that long story she had just told.

DIMITRI
After several quiet moments, he lifted his head eye-level to Leontiyev's own. "If you're happy, then I'm happy. I won't tell the folks back home about this if you really don't want me to.. it's probably for the best anyway. The politics and bullshit between Giovanni and Malvaca get worse and worse by the.. eh.. it's probably nothing you care to hear about anyway. Point is, you're better here, and they're better thinking you're.. gone." He said, but his ears pinned back against his skull. "I missed you."[/ul][/blockquote]

LEONTIYEV The older sister gave a small sigh as Dimitri reacted to it all, and it was obvious that he was hurting from it all. The thought of thinking his dear ol' sister was dead and then finding her here.. must be overwhelming.
"I missed you too, bro." She said, ears also folded with a guilty expression. "Not a day went by without thinking of you.. you were the only tolerable part of my family." And with that, she decided to break the bounds of where they were sitting and give a small nuzzle to her younger brother. It was disheartening to see him alone out here as well. He wasn't happy with home as well.
But at least he had gone about it a more taciturn way.. she hoped.
"You can tell them. Let them come, I don't give a shit. They'll have to deal with a fortified, angry pride and the fact that they'd be killing family as well. Not just me, but.. well.. you're an uncle, Dimitri."

LEONTIYEV If there was one thing Leontiyev could count on, it was her brother's shining optimism. A smile came across her face and she gave a small nod, happy to see that he was so happy about being an uncle. That would be at least until she would say the bad news ..
"Yeah, you old vampire, you," She teased, ruffling his mane with a grey paw. "Had them about.. half a year ago now. Litter of eight.. but I lost one just recently. We.. we just had the funeral and I've gotten their father to look after them for the time being."
Leontiyev swallowed and let her brother process that sudden surge of information.
