ODYSSEIA DAKASA
|
Called out Odysseia as she searched through the Veldt for the king of Meurtrier. She found his company the better. Others were fine and she appreciated small-talk, but the dominant Donovan held a far more sustaining conversation. There was no specific reason as to why she wishes to speak with him. Though she imagined that he may be lonely and could use a friend. Cocaine didn't exactly seem like the kind who could listen about feelings for more than five heart skips. Aside from Cocaine, she didn't really see anyone else around Funeral that often. Sometimes his children; but that wasn't great company. One couldn't pour their troubles to their child. She raised her head again. "M'lord?" She called out.[/ul][/blockquote][/div] Table Coding © Warrah Editing - Kahara "I'm Speaking!' | I'm thinking. At first the ebony furred male gave nothing but a brief flick of the ear at the subtle call of his name. His body warmed by the sun spot in which he laid, he didn't seem to want to rise. This was one of the days where the King was, for once, not seen either on the Throne, thinking and observing, or anywhere else to overlook the territory.
At the second call, he almost groaned. However, recognizing the voice, he could all but force himself to his paws and shake himself awake, some stray black feathers flying elsewhere before trotting in the direction of the voice.
He came upon her looking a bit muffed with dirt, but otherwise clean. His lids opened just barely above the half-way point so he could look to her a bit more efficiently. Once a few feet away, he would tilt his head slightly, ear flicking. "Yes?"

Odysseia asked. She gave him a good look-over and noted he was a bit dirty, but otherwise clean. "Unless you don't want company; which is what I've come to offer. Everyone else appears to be napping or talking."It didn't occur to Odysseia that he wouldn't want company. And even if he insisted that he didn't, she'd probably insist that it'd do him some good. Every leader needs someone they can pour their troubles to.[/ul][/blockquote][/div] Table Coding © Warrah Editing - Kahara "I'm Speaking!' | I'm thinking. The King blinked a few times, staring toward the female as she spoke. At first all he gave was a yawn for a response. "Sleep is for the weak of mind anyway." He chuckled, shaking his head a bit. "No, no. We're fine here. And I'm fine with your company." Funeral looked about the lands, as though to spot out anyone. They're lazy sods. Or, can be. Excellent fighters, however. If you give them the chance." He smiled a bit to this, before settling down and flicking his tail tip briefly to invite her to do the same. "So. What has Ms. Odysseia been up to lately?"

Odysseia said. She recalled a time in which she had stayed awake for nearly three days. It was out of curiosity. Her hunting and fighting skills had dwindled dramatically and the female had proven useless to aid her brother in survival. Odysseia looked around as well before she took up his offer and sat beside him; glad that he did not reject her company. "I think there's reason to be lazy. The lands are well protected and full of plump prey. Though I'm not saying being lazy should become a habit." She chuckled. "I've spent my time hunting and keeping the prey stocks well maintained. A bit of sparring with my brother, and your daughter as well. She's a good fighter; lots of spirit. Pondering the latest happenings.. and you, 'Mr. Funeral'?" Odysseia asked with a sly grin.[/ul][/blockquote][/div] Table Coding © Warrah Editing - Kahara "I'm Speaking!' | I'm thinking.

"Well protected, indeed.." He murmured softly to himself, eyes narrowing a bit. Static's attack had given him thought about just how exposed they were. And he couldn't help but let out a small sigh as he thought about it, almost having missed what she said next.
"My daughter, mm? Which one?" He gave a bit of a coy chuckle before shaking his head. "Nothing different, really. The usual.. I should probably get up and spar with my kids sometime. I'm sure they'll like that." His expression turned downward again, his lids covering half of his eyes and staring off toward nowhere in particular. "Some actual time with their dad..." He murmured on. "Mmm. Yeah."

She chuckled and sighed. "I bet they would like that. But I'm sure they understand if you don't. You're busy and troubled with the duty of leading the pride. Though.. have you ever considered taking them with you on leader-related stuff, trying to get them more involved? I suppose you can't really.." She trailed on, thoughtful, before continuing. ".. they can't really be too involved. But it never hurt to let them tag along and let them know what you're up to."She didn't bother to mention their mother, Najisi, and how they likely lacked any true loyalty to her. After all, she had left them and everything they knew about her, behind. For lord-knew-what at that. But Odysseia stayed her tongue and waited for Funeral's reply.[/ul][/blockquote][/div] Table Coding © Warrah Editing - Kahara "I'm Speaking!' | I'm thinking. He nodded. "That's a good idea. Perhaps not everywhere I go, of course, but on certain matters.. I'd love for them to get the taste of what a leader is like, should they ever replace me or start their own one day." He hummed softly. "What about you? Ever think about leading?" He rose his brows, looking toward her with a seemingly nonchalant look; as though it were a simple, curious question.

The King gave a small smile at her answer. "You never know." He murmured, before his attention was caught by her question.
"Perhaps as a fond possibility but other than that, I cannot say I took the subject too seriously." He chuckled softly, perhaps of the simple fact how he felt things had changed. From so simple to so complex in a simple transition. His smile faded. "Eventually, my mind was to simply stay loyal and true to the pride I had been born in. I watched my son lead and fall - and then it was my turn to step up." It seemed all too simple to explain, but he didn't say anything else on the matter.
"What do you think would make you a good leader?" Not that he couldn't pinpoint specific traits.

Odysseia raised her head as if lifting herself from thoughts to think more on what he had asked. "I'm strong in body and mind, for a start. I've managed to hold my own for many years, and I don't break easily. I'm also confident about myself, and a good listener. Reasonable and understanding. And I'm not ashamed to admit that I can be manipulative if the situation calls for it." She hesitated at the end, as if she was going to say something, then thought carefully about it. "You mentioned watching your son lead and fail; how did that feel? Was there shame, or pride? Or a mix of both?" He listened to her explain; she was confident and whole in her answers. He kept his voice to himself, instead contemplating her answer for some time. Or, at least until she brought up his son. "I watched him fall," He corrected, ears pushing back slightly. Although the subject was of something light and touchy for him, he tried to keep his exterior stoic. "I was sincerely proud of him. I just don't believe I ever got the chance to tell him that."

In the King's mind, failing and falling had a difference. If his son had failed, it spoke to him as though he did nothing; hadn't lead Meurtrier successfully. His fall was his demise, a fail would have been exactly that. A failure - and Funeral was certain he wouldn't be proud of his son if he were a failure.
"I suppose. And Dante was the founder.. I'm sure the members think of him in a variety of ways. I look to him as a teacher, perhaps a degree to strive for. Or even greater."

Odysseia smiled at him and imagined what it felt like. To be a descendant of such a great leader. The expectations must have been overwhelming. This made her glad that her father was essentially a no-one. No one to live up to but herself. Setting the first standards for her family, for herself especially. "You're a great leader without a doubt. I wasn't there for Dante's reign, but I'm confident of you. And I'm sure you'll please many with your reign. Not many can handle the stress, or so, I imagine." As fascinating as their conversation was, it would soon dwindle. Her eyes surveyed the area for a look at anything that may give them something new and exciting to do. That's when she spotted the blueberries. "Have you ever tried a blueberry?"[/ul][/blockquote][/div] Table Coding © Warrah Editing - Kahara "I'm Speaking!' | I'm thinking.
