Ryssor
She was feeling restless. Anxious almost? Who knew? Ry's mind felt as if it was running a million miles a second, yet she felt like she could just fall asleep forever. Things were just so tiring. This had been a long few months. Months where nothing happened except her trying to hide the shame of what she did. Where she despised every moral fibre of her being, and the whole thing was going to unravel very soon.
This was the end of the line. She could feel it. At that moment, it felt like all her feelings and emotions and regrets were starting to come to the surface, and she was going to contend with all that plus the cubs she didn't even want. She was a stupid lioness. She should have taken action ages ago. But now she had nothing but her regrets.
Ryssor limped her way slowly into one of the dens, trying to hide the oncoming pain, even outright denying it. She'd strained herself walking too much. Her body fell to the ground, not even caring if her swollen stomach was damaged in the process, but almost automatically she fell to her right side, hoping no one saw her. They'd create a huge fuss and soon the whole pride would know. No, she was fine.
Even with the pangs of pain coursing through her body, she wondered what she was more afraid of; the actual process or the aftermath. The thought of having little Cocaine sized cubs in front of everyone was a horrifying aspect. As much as she thought about it, Nerante was too doting and proud for his own good. If he found out there and then that he had been the subject of betrayal.. it was funny. Even in the end she didn't really care. Anything would be better than now.
She sucked in a mouth full of crisp morning air, trying not to make too much noise and attract attention. Somehow a little part of her wished that there would be complications and she'd just.. be free.
That's not the answer. You're delusional, crazy, anxious. You're going to have cubs that are born into a fragmented family with a mother that doesn't want them. Don't abandon them. Let them see the truth.

Ryssor
Her tail lashed out at the sight of her mate coming into the den, silently and being far away. As much as she didn't intend to look like she was boring holes into Nerante's head, the pain was starting to get worse by the second. The mind was slowly catching up with the realisation. Again, she wanted to deny it.. but now that Nerante was there, just sitting there close by, Ryssor felt intensely stupid.
Who was she kidding? Not even herself, it seemed; at least she was comforted in the fact that a healer was there. She didn't want to die. Not while he was here. If he was away, then she'd be fine with it. But then.. what if-
Ryssor didn't have much time to explain even her own thoughts when another pain bought her back to reality. Not visible to anyone not her, she tried to suppress it as much as she could. It was there that she just gazed up to Nerante, pained eyes just flicking to meet his gaze.. or was it a mixture of pain, anger, guilt, pity .. ? Emotions running wild.
But in the end, she was glad that at least he was there by her side. He deserved the truth when it would come about. It wasn't too far.
--
However long the process took, for the young demonic-vampire hybrid, it was a journey of intense pain, wishing that she was out in the wild again, all alone with a broken leg and nothing to save her. She'd do that a million times over than deal with what she was going through. Her mind had been only set on one thing. To get the little bastards out of her.
As the whole thing prolonged out for what felt like hours, Ryssor just wanted to pass out. Even when the whole thing was over, she was finding herself little strength to even lift her whole body up and take a look at her offspring. It was that anticipation that it would never end, but thankfully.. it ended.
But she didn't want to look at them.
The bastard cubs of a father closer than Nerante would originally think.
He was there. He'd know the truth.
Tiredly, the female opened one eye. "N-Nerante.. ?" She muttered, feeling stupid and weak like this. He wasn't in her line of sight, but she knew he was there. He had been there all along.

NERANTE & COCAINE
[/i] He looked them over, not noticing the differences yet. Nerante was filled with fatherly pride. But the time would come, the time that reveals that not all of the cubs were his. Eight cubs, he counted. Eight. He gave Ryssor another look-over to make sure she was okay. A small male squirmed beside his mother. He raised his head and let out a small mew, like a tiny roar, and fought for his share of the first meal. His mothers warmth being all he knew. Cocaine remained a distance away, eyes narrowed and cautious. So far so good. Nerante had not acted out yet. Perhaps all of the cubs were his. It would surely simplify everything for them. But Cocaine had to be sure, and soon, he'd approach to find out.[/ul][/blockquote]

Ryssor
"I wanna say the obvious, but.."
The lioness barely had time to finish her sentence before catching a glimpse of a small, tiny, fragile body wriggling around near her body. Well, eight to be exact. Eight.. god damn.. cubs. No wonder she was tired. But Nerante's voice had spurred her the strength to lift herself up, to look at her mate and see the pride in his eyes.
For that brief moment.. she felt a tinge of happiness. It was a short one, mixed in with overwhelming tiredness but it was there. She followed him down to the little newborns at her side. And at that moment, something changed within her.
Just seeing and hearing one of them try to roar, only letting out a small 'mew' and wriggling into life for the first time was.. Ryssor couldn't even describe it. Joyous? Pride, almost. It was funny how only a few hours ago she was dreading the fact that she didn't want these cubs, she wanted them gone, she wanted herself gone.. but.. she couldn't do it anymore. The eight little cubs by her side were amazing. Little gifts of joy, bred by her mate. Or so she assumed.
That moment of pride was replaced by the realisation of who was the father and who wasn't? Looking at them, she couldn't tell anything different about them. As far as she was concerned, they were her's and Nerante's.
"I.. I'm fine, love," She replied again, softly this time. "How many males and females are there?"

Evangeline Caliver
The rather large cub was so new to the world, that ever familiar marking on Cocaine's shoulders showed on her shoulders.. though her mane was that of Ryssor's. The female made a little roar that turned out to be a squeak before grinning and went on her mother's teat, the only food she knew and survived on.. for now. It was obvious that the cub was she and Cocaine's cub.. hopefully she had other littermates to play with when she got older. Once she would get older, she wanted to serve her pride with the same strength of her father and the will and mind of her mother.

NERANTE & COCAINE
[/i] He smiled at her, but something still wasn't sitting right. "I'm going to go and hunt, I'll be back soon, m'dear." He bid her farewell to go and hunt. Once Nerante was gone, Cocaine moved in slowly. It was the moment of truth. And he looked down to Ryssor and the cubs. "They're not all his, are they." Murmured the commander.[/ul][/blockquote]

Ryssor
For a moment, she could see the hesitation in Nerante's eyes. He had seen it. He had seen the fact that they were different. Something seized up inside of her.. maybe it was her chest or stomach or her heart just failing there and then. But then she realised she was just holding her breath in anticipation, at least until Nerante seemed to visibly relax and smile to her. But he wasn't fooling her. Not in the slightest.
But nonetheless, she gave a small smile in return. "Good. We'll name them when you come back, alright?" They deserved names at least, from their actual father. The joy she felt was still there, projecting onto the newborns, but there was the guilt.
She just laid eyes on her newborns as they wrestled and fought for life, not watching as Nerante had left the den. But as quick as he left, someone else had entered the den. It was a familiar scent. Ryssor knew exactly who it was, and she refused to look up. Just study the cubs intensely.
"No. They're not. I think some of them are his, and some of them are yours," She theorised, before looking up to the commander. "Whatever it is, he has his suspicions. He's playing it off due to his pride, but once that calms down and they grow up, he'll notice something is up."

Ryssor
All the female could do was give a small shrug and eye the commander with some uncertainty. "Can't argue with that." She replied, not wanting to protest or piss him off any further. Tension in the pride had been riled up by the La Morte fight that had happened, and Ryssor was sure there was more to come.
"I just hope this shit gets sorted out soon and we win," She admitted, looking over to the cubs. "I would have fought, but I think I wouldn't have been allowed anyway.. I swear though, if La Morte won somehow, I'd die before being sub servant to them." The lioness gave a small huff and just watched carefully as the cubs moved around slowly.
She hoped that they'd have a nice and easy life.

COCAINE & NERANTE
[/i] He cut himself off and raised his head. "It's fine. Just don't worry about it too much. You have the young to raise, and when the time comes where they can be picked apart as different, then we'll figure something out." He hesitated to leave, but crouched to lick the top of Ryssor's head before he moved away. And just in time too. Nerante appeared around the corner just as Cocaine flopped onto the throne. In his mouth he carried a hawk and few mice. "M'dear," Nerante murmured and dropped the mice and hawk. "Figured you'd be hungry after pushing out so many young ones."[/ul][/blockquote]

Ryssor
Truth be told, Ryssor didn't know how to react to that sudden display of affection. Aside from the obvious encounter months ago, the lioness thought nothing except that the commander was a workaholic. Sure, he had kids and was a father but judging by some of his litters, he wasn't exactly the best father ever. She expected him to stoic most of the time, so the quick groom just surprised her.
In a good way she guessed. He could just be doing this because he has had strong cubs with a young lioness and he felt way more optimistic.. who the hell knew? She just didn't say anything as the commander left, even when Nerante returned she was still deep in thought about what transpired.
But then the smell of blood came to the air and suddenly, Ry was knocked out of her thought process. "Huh?" She mumbled in a daze, before realising the hawk and mice at her paws. "Oh.. yeah, I am actually. Thank you." Although she felt too tired, she decided to snack down on the hawk anyway. A small sigh escaped her lips. "Eight cubs.. how did that happen?"
