Lightning lit up the night sky, though no rain was falling. It outlined to figures on the peak of one of the Shadow Veldt’s mountains. One would have been recognizable to the inhabitants of the land, a small black cat. The other was a great purple feline. By the expressions on their faces, whatever it was they were discussing was not pleasant. Their roars were overridden by the thunder. “Verdict! How many times must I threaten you? I told you to leave DeSoto alone! He already signed a contract with me! If he is signing his soul away to anyone, it will be me! Besides, you’ve got Vladislav fulfilling your ‘quota.’” His teeth were bare and for some reason, the large beast flinched back as Shard’s anger escalated.
“But Vlad will not give me his soul. DeSoto has such resolve to kill his brother. His soul is more alluri− ”He was cut off as something giant landed atop him, pinning him to the ground. The little cat known as Shard was no more, and instead, a twelve foot winged, feline monstrosity stood in his place, over the purple beast. A pair of spiked ram horns curled from his large skull, and a different pair grew straight. Saber fangs curved over his lips with a metallic quality to them. His many scars were now visible and his eyes appeared as red pits.
“Do as you are told!” he roared, his voice deeper now and quite terrifying. Verdict chuckled, though there was certainly an expression of fear on his countenance.
“That’s what I wanted see. So what do you plan to do to me?” the demon asked coyly, with obvious agendas on his mind.
Jasper shook his head and released him. “Go. I’ve not been in the mood for males of late.”
Verdict purred and rubbed against the giant, black creature who towered over him at this point. “A few years ago you were only seven feet. What changed?” This was only answered with bared teeth and glowing eyes. “Okay, I’ll leave. Will your brother be along soon? Been aching for a Crimson boy,” he crooned, to elicit another growl from Jasper.
“I hardly understand how he tolerates you, but yes, he will.” When the monster turned to look at Verdict, the purple beast was gone. That was best though. It would be nice to relax a bit and stretch his limbs. It had been weeks since he was last like this.

KEJETHAN-DARAH
[/i] He called out. It was a question. Although the form, in the storms only light, had him sure that the huge brute was Jasper, Kejethan had to be sure. After Kejethan called out he refused to move any closer until confirmation was made.[/ul][/blockquote]

Jasper slowly lifted a paw to the sky, his face void of emotion. Verdict had brought up an excellent point. Why had his form changed? He was over four feet taller than he used to be and his horns and fangs had never been quite so prominent. “Quid acciderit ego?” He wondered if it had anything to the recent monsters in Hell coming to call more often. Demons he had known were becoming restless and bolder. Verdict’s behavior had been a perfect example of it. Great wings unfurled as he reared up onto his hind legs, preparing to take flight, to glide far above the clouds.
But a voice drew him back. A familiar voice. His head turned as he returned to all four paws. “There you are, Kejethan. It has been years.” Jasper’s usual grin appeared as he sat down and pulled his wings tight against his form. His eyes reformed, first as black orbs, then the shifting, fiery irises. He blinked a few times, finding that process uncomfortable as always. “Come here, son.” He gestured with his head and patted a spot with his enormous spiked tail where he insisted that his son sit. “We must catch up. Your absentee father is curious as to what he’s missed.” He was not yet sure if he regretted not being a better figure in his children’s lives. He was well aware he was not a good father in any context of the word.

KEJETHAN-DARAH
[/i] Were the first words to really leave his mouth. They were dry words. A mere observation with no emotion or tender-ness that a son may give to his father in a normal situation. Seeing as the position Kejethan found himself in was far from a normal situation, the lack of love in his words didn't bother him. "Ask away, then. I've a few questions of my own if you don't mind."[/ul][/blockquote]

Jasper was unlikely to be offended anything his son could say. They did not compete for the lives others like he and the purple demon did. He lay down with a loud thump. He regarded his son carefully. Darkknight had been his mother. His late mate. Or at least he assumed she was dead. He had not seen her in many years and had certainly not been faithful. In fact, he had already made a lovely female friend. He was not sure if he had romantic interest in her yet, but he knew he would certainly protect her as he did his darling rabbit. “Indeed? I am a bit larger, actually. To tell you the truth, I don’t have a set form in the mortal realm, so my corporeal body will occasion change to fit the moods of where my parents reside. While I am not allowed in heaven or Hell, they do enjoy influencing me.” He did not know how else he could explain his change in shape. There were so many facets to that complicated statement. “But you will always be young to me. You are quite right there.” He chuckled coolly.
“So what significant events have occurred in your life? Have you joined prides? Had children? Mates? Any war stories for the old man?” He was starting to ramble off but he quickly caught himself. “But I can answer yours first.” Curiosity was eating away at him on the inside, but it was hard to discern too many emotions on such a freakish countenance.

Emotions were a complicated subject for Jasper, so more often than not, he ignored them. It was not the wisest decision, as they tended to build up and send him into fits that were only part of his emotional breakdowns. Due to his immortality and lineage, such things tended to last longer and be a bit more extreme when involving him. So the way he regarded his son did not always stay the same. Lightning struck close by and his fur stood due to the electrified atmosphere. The fact that Kejethan was not holding eye contact was not lost upon him. He made his son uncomfortable. He regretted that, though it was not necessarily out paternal feelings. No one would ever open up to him if they were not comfortable. And this one was his child, so there were obviously problems with their relationship outside of the lack of involvement he had in the male’s childhood.
“I have been many places. I like to travel at time, but now is a period for settling down. As much as one like myself can.” Neo was not excluded from that, he simply was busy. “I have had no new mates, but I have had a daughter with Ruya. She was named Zara. My youngest is Victor, and he is more or less your half brother. The circumstances regarding his conception are a bit complex. But my brother and I are both his father, and Morderblume is his mother.” He preferred not to go into more detail as he did not wish to incite jealous, but he would if asked. “Do I make you uncomfortable? I have not been around much of your life. Does this affect you?” He would not break eye contact with his son at this point. He wanted these answers. “And do not lie. I am old, and have been lied to many times, so I am skilled at discerning truth from fallacy.” This was not a threat, but he did not want to play games.

KEJETHAN-DARAH
[/s] A time to settle down seemed rather appropriate. For both of them. Even if Kejethan was no where near his fathers age, he was still an adult by his own standards, and travel did not appeal to him greatly. To be in a single spot, content and loyal to a family or pride who has accepted you as one of their own was all he needed. It appeared that they both had Meurtrier in mind for such a settlement of sorts. Ruya, Zara. Unfamiliar names. Even Victor sounded foreign to him. The circumstances in which his half brother was brought about didn't surprise him though. His family and past was full of strange and unexpected things. "Slightly. You haven't been around for long. I thought I'd never see you again. Yet here you are. As if nothing happened. I.. hm." Was all he could manage to say.[/ul][/blockquote]
