Merchant's Market
('the market' or 'shoppie')
Location: Busiest at the center of the Royal City. Built from the center (surrounding Mfisiv's Park) out. Gradually spaces out the farther from the center you get.
Description: A chain of shops, some of which double as homes, for all sorts of things. Meats to vegetables to books and companions are sold and traded here. Trade tends to be bigger than selling, however.
History: It has always been a place of trade, built around the park and intended to liven up the Ivalicians on the archipelago. The original shops were mostly about trading for meats and supplies, but later this was expanded on as ivalicians grew and evolved as a species. There are no known recorded instances of theft for shops.
How-To: Any ivalician with something to sell can set up a temporary shop. All of the temporary shops are made of thin wood and straw. They are easy to set up and easier to take down. All temporary shops are in the same area near the center of the Merchant's Market, but that doesn't stop some from trying to set up temp. shops elsewhere (which is against the city code).
If you want your character to set up a temporary shop, they can do so without my permission. They don't need to be good at it either! I encourage all kinds of temporary shop keepers to sell whatever they would like to - or trade!
If you want your character to set up a permanent shop, they must first establish a well-run temporary shop. Then, through IC interactions, your character must get approval from other shop keepers and then present their shop idea to the queen for approval. Once it has been thoroughly approved, all necessary supplies will be gifted for the building of your characters shop.
You can roleplay them building the shop or skip ahead, that is up to you. Other shop keepers near your new shop would definitely help!
An ivalician may also apply to work with other shop keepers!
Existing permanent shops can be sold and bought.
A common form of currency in the archipelago is gemstones. Rare gemstones are real gemstones that have been mined. These are, as said, rare. More commonly used are fake gemstones - but they're simply referred to as gemstones by most ivalicians. These are hand crafted by miners under the order of the royal family. For the sake of keeping things balanced for most ivalicians, we'll say each ivalician character starts with 100 gemstones.
1 gemstone = $1 USD
Below is the current existing shops and who they are run by. For the purpose of balancing things out, I'll play NPC's for some shops until there is a healthy and active community by actual players here.
If you'd like to own one of these shops by creating the NPC and making it into an actual character, let me know!

PERMANENT SHOP #1: 'Iva-Eats' - NPC A - The only dine-in all-you-can-eat family restaurant in all of the archipelago. The biggest food-related shop in the market. Families and friends can come inside (a rarity in the archipelago market) and order food to eat there. Food can be raw meats, cooked meats, vegetables, and fruits!
There are work positions available for ivalicians who know how to work with fire, cook meat, efficiently hunt, or are talented at balancing.
Payment: Gemstones, no trade.
PERMANENT SHOP #2: ?? - NPC B - A trade shop for seafood and sea collectables (seashells etc) caught and found fresh at the main docks.
Payment: Gemstones or equal value trade.

WORK IN PROGRESS!! There will be at least three more permanent shops listed above, and five temporary shops to start. Unless there is demand for more. There will also be three Stone Teller shops (essentially libraries/places of learning the history of the archipelago and the ivalicians). Each shop will have a thread.
