[/i] He said in a matter-of-fact like tone. "Meurtrier isn't Funeral though, and it isn't Cocaine. Meurtrier is us. All of us, a.. thing of its own. We're on the right side." Added in the male. His loyalties were to Meurtrier; if even not to Funeral or Cocaine themselves. Perhaps a confusing concept to grasp but one he would preach over if need be. "Just a place to relax and think. Away from the crazy and drama. To give me peace of mind I guess. The lack of .. recognition we received at the gathering has come to bother me quite a bit."[/ul][/blockquote]

Zalui Xemvoi
Another interruption. Zalui began to growl as one eye opened, yet it never surfaced. For the passed days after the Chitor overthrow Zal had presumed his three children had perished. None had shown their faces and Zalui was not about to go looking for them. Now as he looked at Circa, well and unscathed, he opened both eyes and sat up. "Well well, I suppose I should say that I am glad to see you are in one piece." Yellow's grazed over the little 'ess. She was growing nicely he had to admit; and if she was the only one who had lived through the massacre then she would be a strong adult one day. Zalui gave a mental nod of approval. "Tell me, are your brother and sister alive?" The beast gave the shoulder he had been laying on a rough lick to unflatten the fur there.

Circa was happy at the response given, she was glad he was actually happy to see her. "Well I'm pretty sure I'm in one piece, if I aint I haven't noticed." She couldn't help revealing a smile, but it was quickly faded again, and she folded one ear down at the mention of her siblings.
She hadn't seen them since the incident with Chitor, she herself had been hidden alone during the massacre, and hadn't seen eye nor tail of her brother and sister during or afterward. Where had they gone? Of all the things she thought about on a daily basis, she had given it thought, but until now she just assumed they had wandered back like she had, and she just hadn't seen them.
"I haven't seen them since... Perhaps they'll wander back soon, like I did." She said hopefully, regaining her positivity.

The beast listened to his little kin with an indifferent expression. He could clearly see that she was bothered by the fact that her litter mates were not around, yet growing up as an only cub he could not relate. "Perhaps." He gave his shoulder one last lick before his harsh gaze returned fully to Circa. "And if they don't, you still have plenty of other play mates around." He was vaguely aware of how cruel that really sounded, but again he just could not fathom any true feelings of loss.

Najisi Kain The ess snorted. She cared about Meur. She inspired Funeral to not give up on his people in this very cave. It infuriated her that none of that seemed to matter now. She shook her head and sighed. "A pride is a reflection of its leaders. Well, in this case, it is. Another reason why I wonder if I chose the right side. Meur itself may not have scorned me but its leaders have. Funeral isn't the same. Frankly, maybe if he lost to Ceon he would have been given a reality check." She sneered and gazed out of the cave. She could hear commotion from outside. Hopefully they'd not hear the words that would be spoken in here, in private. Her gaze turned to Reno. "Chitor.. was... They werent like Meurtrier. Maybe at one point this pride was like that.. But they seemed to care about each other. Cocaine and Funeral lead with Fear. Yet Funeral has nerver been like this before. I fear that Cocaine has ruined him. Has ruined this pride. Even Ceon.. Showed quite a bit of.. Compassion." She paused and growled a bit. "I have seen the fear tactic. It works for a while but then, people start getting tired of living in fear. I've seen it happen to my parents' pride. To other prides. If they continue to act as if none of us matter.. this pride will fail.."

Circa Da'ei Xemvoi
Circa, being Circa, was aware but at the same time unaware of her father's harsh response. She did truly miss her siblings, and would be quite saddened if they didn't return, but if there was anything to be learned from simply being around Zalui and even just being in this pride itself, it was detachment.
As sweet and as social as she could be, and as quiet and cold Zalui could be, she looked up to him as a sort of role model. His responses soaked into her like a sponge, and she followed the example with no . It may have stung a little initially to loose her loved ones, but she would carry on, she had other things to worry about. Looking up to him, she simply nodded optimistically. "You're right, I still do."
She would carry on, she just needed something to do. "But can I ask you something?" She paused for his response as she heard voices in the cave, she wondered briefly what they where doing but decided against looking in; the cave was often used for private affairs, so it seemed.

[/i] He began, eyes wide as he turned himself over to look at her. A glance was passed to the entrance where he made sure no one had entered. Safe. Secure. Silent. Reno looked back onto Najisi and shook his head. "No offense, but I think you're just sour toward Funeral and Cocaine. That's no reason to blame all of Meurtrier. Meurtrier, itself, is great. And sure Funeral and Cocaine may hold the potential to drag it down, I don't think it'll fail. Look how far it's gone, right?" He then sat up and gave himself a few licks to the chest, a nervous reaction, hopeful he wasn't offending the past-queen. "Funeral and Cocaine will, would, be nothing without their followers. Those who are loyal to them. As long as Meurtrier is loyal to them as a whole things will not fail. But if they are turned against, the only ones that fall are Funeral and Cociane. Not the pride. The pride goes on, with new life for a new leader. That is only, if, they were to fail. I wouldn't be too quick to say that Meurtrier will fail. It has much potential.." A pause as he inhaled deeply and released it in an annoyed sigh. "Even if I despise the leader himself alongside his little pet captain. If anyone should be ruling, honestly," He slowed down and thought deeply on his next words. ".. It should be me. I'm Nero's son, Caine's grandson, Dante Donovan's great grandson. It's in my blood to rule, to lead, to bring proper.. justice." He murmured.[/ul][/blockquote]

Head turned breifly toward the entrance of the cave. Because he had fallen asleep he wondered if who was in there before was in there now. Shrugging off the thought, the beast gave a wide yawn, his large canine's gleaming brightly. Zalui stood afterwards, giving his pelt a good shake before seating himself again. Yellow's remained steadily on Circa as one ear slowly rotating toward her to better hear what she had to say; a brow raised questioningly.

Najisi Kain The ess listened to his words. A sigh given to the whole deal. She understood what he said. She wasn't blaming Meur as a whole. She was simply stating the pride does not feel like family. Even her own young seem to give more attention to Cocaine then her. That bothered her greatly. "I agree, Reno. But if the members are too afraid to stand up.. then those two will run it into the ground. " Her ear twitched as she heard the truth behind why Reno was so sour about them. Why he wanted power. He deserved it. Najisi wanted to see Funeral dethroned. Maybe then, he'd go back to being the male she fell in love with. "Then you should Lead. I don't know the history of this pride beyond Funeral's late son. But if you should lead. You should lead." She growled in frustration. Maybe Reno would have more sense in his head than Funeral now. Hey, maybe even Coke would get the boot. How she'd love to see that. She shook her head and stood. "Maybe you'd have more sense in your head. Compassion doesn't need to be blotted out just to maintain the pride's image. Fune and Cocaine are trying too hard to be hardasses."

[/i] He said with a chuckle. His eyes flickered to the entrance again, cautious. "Oh trust me I agree. Though there is a time and place for emotion and before the whole of the pride is not one of them. If a leader looks weak, the pride looks weak, and members will take advantage of that. It's merely a matter of timing, honestly. When to place the love and.. well, when not to." Reno stated, confident and sure of himself. "And.. you know, I kind of like you, Najisi. I know your heart must still lay with Funeral despite so much, but you're the first in a long time to see me as I am."[/ul][/blockquote]

Najisi Kain The ess rose a brow at his words. His last statement caught her off guard a bit. She couldn't deny she was getting closer to him. She already considered him her only friend. Truth was, her heart wasn't anywhere. It was too broken and confused to figure anything out. Love Funeral. Hate Funeral.. Then there was Ceon, now Reno? Ugh.. Though Reno wasn't a confusion, or anything bad. She just wish she could figure out how she felt about Funeral. "Oh? Well, Can't say I don't like you either. I don't know how I feel about Funeral really. I love him but then I hate him? You seem to be the only one I can talk to. Everyone else.. Even my own children, likely see me as a traitor." One ear remained pinned on the opening behind her, irritation stemming onto her face. She wanted this to be a private chat. Now she had to worry about something getting leaked. She sighed. "We get our damn home back and the whole pride decides to remain outside this cave? How annoying. I am glad you're still around. Only you seem to see me as something that deserves respect. Even strangers deem it fit to disrespect me so."

[/i] He said, tail flicking to dismiss worries of his own. "Sounds like quite the complicated situation you've got there. Hate him, love him. Well, none of my business frankly. But I doubt your children see you as such; you're their mother, after all. You've done nothing to bring hate to yourself. And well," A pause and he chuckled. "Everyone deserves respect. They lose it, not earn it."[/ul][/blockquote]

Slithering among the land was the ruthless snake. Quiet and observant, hardly making much sound outside of the natural tones of the place which was their home. He could make out some voices in the distance - Najisi, Brynneth, Reno. It wasn't just voices - the smells carried on the clever wind that grew also gave him a good taste for who was there. Interested, the black King remained in his state of clandestine manor, eyes narrowed and cautious.
Upon reaching the area, peaking through the ferns, he could make out new figures that seemed to have joined outside the grotto. His ears perked and there was some suspicion in him about the cave's entrance, so he lurked around, hopefully avoiding sight of the members as to not raise suspicion from them as well, and made his way behind the hill, just beyond a rise closest to the entrance. He could just barely make out some words of the conversation, and what he heard - was not good.
"Even... I despise.. leader himself... little... Captain... If anyone should... ruling... It... be me... Nero's son... grandson, Dante... great grandson. It's... blood... rule... lead... justice."
The dark, winged male scowled softly, but kept still. It was Najisi's voice that took over.
"Agree... But... members... too afraid... stand up... two... run it... ground."
"Then... should lead... don't know... history of... pride beyond... son. But if... should lead. You... lead."
A growl was sounded, and some movement. He braced himself slightly, but didn't want to miss anything else, really, so he stood on his toes - just in case.
"Maybe... have... sense in... head. Compassion doesn't... be blotted... just... maintain... pride's image. Fune... Cocaine... too hard... hardasses."
Then Reno.
"Don't think... afraid... need is... boost... help, remind them that together... stronger... Funeral and Cocaine... And... love to. But... not... easy." A chuckle sounded. "Trust me... agree. Though... time and place... emotion and... whole of... pride is not... If... leader... weak... pride looks weak... members... take advantage of that. It's... matter of timing... When to... love and... not to.
"And... kind... like you, Najisi. I.... your heart... still lay... Funeral... but... first... long time... see me... am."
His claws barely touched the ground at the conversation thus far. It wasn't because of the very last bit that Reno emitted, no, it was far more then that. He let his mind stay focused, however. Najisi spoke.
"...can't say... don't like... either... know how... feel... Funeral.... I love... but... hate...? You... be... only one I... talk to. Everyone... Own children... see me as... traitor."
"...get... damn home... whole pride... remain outside... cave? ...annoying... Glad... still around... you seem... see me... deserves respect... Strangers deem... fit to disrespect..."
He didn't care much about the feelings crap. On to Reno.
"...sounds... few out there... Think... safe... Sounds... quite... complicated... there. Hate him, love him... None of... business... But... doubt... children see... such; you're... mother. You've done nothing... hate to yourself. And..." A distant chuckle. "...deserves respect... lose it, not earn..."
By the time the conversation was to the point where we are now, the King had had his fill. He had proof, he heard this. Things may have been choppy for him to listen to, but it seemed like the main intent was out. The fur on his spine pricked and he kept his body compacted as he crouched lower - or as low as he could - to the ground, awaiting for possibly more words. [/blockquote]

Najisi Kain "Ahh, that's a good way to look at it. Still, hard not to feel that way." Naji sighed. She flopped onto her side and gave a small grunt. Too much on her mind lately. Just.. too much. Her tail twitched as she thought, putting words together and picking what to say. "Well, it's not like theres anything we can do. Sure, it'd be nice if Cocaine was thrown into lava and Funeral given a smack on his head, but.. Well, I'm sure as hell not going to launch a rebellion. Yes, I have my feelings, but that's all they'll ever be. Secret annoyances shared to a friend. Nothing more. As I've stated, I am loyal to this pride. Just.. some of its hierarchy, not so much." The ess sighed. There was one other thing on her mind but she wasn't sure she should say it. Her paws fidgeted on the ground a bit before she spoke again. "Perhapse Funeral was right. I am weak and useless. But is it so wrong to want your mate to care about you? To want that bond with someone? Perhapse I could have chose a better time to talk to him about my thoughts.. but.. Ugh.. He should have known better. He said he'd protect me from what happened before. Then that bastard Cocaine brings up a stupid rule, and suddenly he's okay with that. Only because I had a runt. I had seen my first litter killed infront of me. Of corse I got upset. Am I really so at fault for not wanting my cub killed because he was a runt?"
