I am only getting this much down so people can play one.
There is a lot to the species, so I suggest checking the thread every once in a while.

Overview
Slynthyra are an old species that dates back to when Elvion still roamed the Itera. Elvion were a species that were known for their incredible intelligence and anthromorphic qualities. Slynthyra are descended from the noble beast, though not as advanced. They are known to make tools and form villages and have proven their intellectual abilities with keeping vast libraries. While crude compared to their assumed extinct ancestors, they tend to make the other species of Itera appear as savages with their advanced societies.
History
Old
Appearance
Slynthyra are large, well developed beasts. They stand at about two meters tall at the shoulders and have long, thick, muscular tails that prove to be as dangerous as a paw with sheathed claws. They have pointed, lynx like ears and elegantly sculpted heads that remind one of a cougar rather than a lion. Eyes are large, but set back slightly in the skull. Pupils are round, like all big cats. Males develop a large, full mane that often extends onto their stomach and down their spine. Female will develop a tuft of a mane on occasion on their cranium, but it is never near the extent of the male's.
The most notable aspect of Slynthyra are their large paws. Unlike all other felines, they can manipulate each digit on their forepaws with ease. Their dewclaw has extended to become very similar to an opposable thumb. This adaptation has allowed them to advance far beyond their cousins. This allows them to create and manipulate objects. Paired with their enlarged frontal lobe, the possibilities for advancement seem limitless.
Behavior
Smart, superstitious, proud, prone to racism
Habitat
While adaptable, Slynthyra tend to congreagate in mountainous regions. Their favorite prey live in these conditions, not are they best suited for plains or warmer climates. The temperate climates offered by mountains, along with vast coniferous forests offers both shelter and food for this species which rarely leaves once establishing a homestead. Often, caves are taken for homes and expanded to make elaborate dens.
Diet
Carnivorous, able to consume and digest some plant material
Reproduction
Unlike in many felines, Slythyra females go into heat four or more times a year. When they ovulate, they rarely release more than a single egg, and thus give birth to only one cub. The cub will stay with its parents for year, not self sufficient until at least fifteen years of age, reaching sexual maturity around twenty years. Often, a female will become pregnant multiple times with the same male, and thus rear cubs of differing ages at the same time.
Lifestyle
Large groups, territorial, elaborate dens
Beliefs/Religion
Monotheism, Ritualistic
