FIRENZE CALIVER [/size][/font] Novocain seemed disappointed, but Firenze was thankful that he thought about what he had just said; he didn't want to be carrying his brother's charred corpse back home and having to explain himself. What Father would do..
Firenze shivered as they continued on. If Father came home early, then they'd be in big trouble. Then again, he didn't even know if he'd notice they were gone. He was too focused on other things. Never wanting to spend much time with them.. only wanting to spend time with.. Ryssor or do pride things. Ryssor. He gave a small 'puh' as she came to mind. She had only stolen Father away from Mother. Never in his lifetime would he ever call her a mother.
As his thoughts spiraled into anger, he was nudged out back to reality by Novocain. He turned with a resounding "Huh?" until he saw what he was pointing at - a lion in the distance. It certainly wasn't Mother, but it was the first sign of life beside themselves. He turned to look to his brother, giving him an indecisive expression.[/color] |

[/i] She asked. Novocain found words were caught in his throat. He couldn't even look back to his brother for support. When he began to find his paws, he tried to take a step back, but the lioness took offense and began to frown. "I may be ugly on the outside, but I am kind on the inside, boy. I see not with my eyes, but with my ears. What is it?" She asked again. This time Novocain really froze. He dared not to look at Firenze still, in fear this lioness may attack the moment he looked away, and swallow him hole. "U-uh.. ha.. have you heard a.. have you seen.. I don't think you'll be of much help.." Novocain admitted. If she couldn't see with her eyes, how would she possibly be able to tell them if their mother had passed by here? And above all, Novocain just wanted to leave. The world outside of Shadow Veldt was terrifying and strange.[/ul][/blockquote] |

FIRENZE CALIVER [/size][/font] Firenze just stared in absolute shock - whether it was at the suddenly eyeless lioness or Novocain's offensive demeanour was up for debate, but he knew they shouldn't get on the bad side of any strangers, seeing as how they were only weak adolescents. He just watched as his brother seemed to shake in horror.. well, at least to him, and he walked over slowly.
"Sorry to bother you miss," He apologised, still a bit peturbed by her missing her eyes but trying not to sound like it on his voice. "And forgive my brother's rudeness. We're just looking for our mother who had been sent into exile. We've been travelling for a while, and you're the only soul we've seen since we left. As my brother was going to ask you, have you managed to pick up any trails of a female lioness around here? We were following our mothers, but then the scent went distant and we're not sure why. Do many pass through here?"[/color] |

[/i] She cackled and then pointed toward a path that led into the marshy, swamp jungles. "I'll be of no help, but I hear there's a monkey, as nuts as a squirrel, that lives in a tree. He can tell you of what I can't see. Just find your way through the dense swamp trees. But be prepared to offer him some bananas. From the trees, curved, and I'm told they are, as you may say, the color yellow." She turned away without another word and Novocain hesitantly looked to the distant marsh jungle and then to his brother. Were they about to head in there? They had to.. it was there only lead to a helpful source so far.[/ul][/blockquote] |

FIRENZE CALIVER [/size][/font] "And we will," Firenze replied cooly, as they walked through the increasingly marshy area. "In all fairness though Novocain, I think you should leave the talking to me. I deal with the lioness with no eyes and I'll deal with the monkey, okay?" In all respects he wanted to admonish his brother for acting so rudely to the disabled lioness, for her appearance was nothing like her personality. In a lot of ways, he had the attitude of his father while Firenze took the charisma.
But Firenze didn't even wanna think about Cocaine. Every time he did, he got just a bit more angry. Instead, he bit his lip and huffed as they wandered deep into the jungle.
"Urgh, bugs." He spat, shaking his head at the alarming number of flying, buzzing menaces that attempted to overcome them. Then again, marshlands were breeding grounds for them. Nonetheless, he turned to make sure Novocain was keeping up.[/color] |

Firenze would have laughed at his brother's misfortune, if he hadn't suddenly ran into him while trying to get the disgusting shit off his paw. And suddenly, the grey male found himself flailing onto the ground, his big fat brown brother falling right onto him and submerging him into the paw high dirty marsh water.
"God damn it! SON OF A BITCH!" He spluttered, not to Novocain, but to the universe in particular. "I am covered in- ughhhh, gross shit!" If he hadn't noticed how much he hated dirtiness, he was noticing it now. Paws struggled to push his brother off, wanting to get away from his crap covered paws, and scrambled for dry land, shivering uncontrollably. It was suddenly cold.
And he couldn't help but glare daggers at his brother, trying to shake the water off of him. "G-god d-damn it, N-Novocain," He chattered."It's fffucking cold! I'm gonna develop a complex after this, oh my god! This is horrifying!"[/color]

Novocain said, he turned and readied to head off when he spotted a funny looking monkey. It was staring at them, head tilted, with a crooked smile. He was grey and black with a small tail and long hands. "Eeeeh Firenze, think we found the monkey." "AH, but it is I who found you." The monkey shouted suddenly. Novocain bristled in alarm. "Come with me, I have warmth for you, children." He waited patiently for them to follow. Novocain glanced at Firenze. Was this a good idea?[/ul][/blockquote] |

He still kept shivering, watching Novocain get all childish and rowdy. As if it was any worse.. he was freezing! And covered in icky mud and marshy water. What if he caught yellow fever and died before he could find Mother? And in his last words, he'd curse the fuck out of his brother in between dying coughs, condemning him to hell for not manning up after stepping in a pile of crap.
At Novocain's words, Firenze's head suddenly shot up and indeed, he saw the monkey too. Wild eyed, crazy looking, a grin that sent shivers down his spine. Or was it the wind? Either way, he managed to chatter out a reply. "Y-yeah.. looks like h-he f-f-found us t-t-though.."
And then suddenly, the monkey offered them warmth and took off. Novocain's glance to him was the last straw; the brother just threw up his head and groaned, before setting off and following the monkey. "K-keep that shit a-a-away from me.." He threatened.[/color]

[/i] Novocain protested angrily. The monkey rolled his eyes and bapped Novocain on the nose. "No. To homefire. Small and contained and it will warm you. Come." He ordered and walked around Novocain. He hesitated, but as long as Firenze was going, he was too. A follower.. hmph. Novocain wanted to be a leader. A strong one. Soon the sight of this fire was .. seen. Flames flickered up, but they were small. He sat as the monkey ordered and glanced at Firenze and then back to the monkey, who had taken a seat as well. "Tell me what you are doing out here?" "We're searching for our mother.. we hoped you'd seen her. The lioness with no eyes told us to go here." He said, and looked to his brother. Would Firenze have anything to add?[/ul][/blockquote] |

Firenze couldn't help but let out a small snicker between chattering teeth as the monkey teased the shit out of his brother. They seemed like they were going to get along just fine. The sight and even the warmth of the fire was enough for Firenze to sit his rear down close to it, feeling the immense blaze against his fur. God damn, it felt good. For a moment, he was feeling utmost euphoria. He was in heaven. He was the most comfortable feline alive at the moment.
He didn't even realise that Novocain was taking the reins now, doing all the talking while he was sprawled out in front of the heat like a cub. He only stopped to answer when he noticed Novocain was looking at him. "Uhh.. yeah, have you seen any lionesses that look like us? Grey pelt, white belly, yellow tuft of hair?[/color]

[/i] They couldn't see it from the ground, but when the monkey was high above the tree tops, he could see it all. It didn't seem as if it had been too long ago that he'd seen them, either. "Good! We'll go right now then." Novocain began to get up and the monkey bapped him on the head. "No. You stay and be warm. Always tomorrow." The monkey said. Novocain looked at his brother, a bit uneasy.
