FIRENZE CALIVER Firenze was around. Just not around other people. He sighed and batted a rock absentmindedly with his paws. Father was gone, Mother was gone, older brothers and sisters aren't much fun either.. Cassius was grouchy, Stain didn't talk much.. feh he didn't even wanna think about the others. He was in a sour and bored mood.
His ears pricked up, although he wasn't exactly jumping to the call when he heard Novocain call for him. He was fairly close by. Firenze heaved a sigh. "Over here!" He called back.

He murmured and raced over to Firenze. Although his brother wasn't in any real danger, it was still good to hear his voice. It was better than anyone else's in the whole of Meurtrier. A gentle headbutt was Novocain's greeting, and after he backed up. "Whatcha been up to, bro? Ain't nothing going on around here.. pretty bored, honestly.. and.. and been thinking about.. something." He wasn't sure if he should tell Firenze his plan yet.. it was still in the rough sketch stages.[/ul][/blockquote]

FIRENZE CALIVER The brother could only smile and headbutt his brother back in greeting. "Nothing much.. being occupied with this rock. Pretty boring around here otherwise. What about you?" He asked, noting how relieved and happy he was to see him. Either the whole situation was really starting to get to him, or there was something going on. "Oh yeah? Whatcha thinkin' about?" He asked casually and aloof, tossing the rock between his paws back and forth in anticipation.

FIRENZE CALIVER Firenze looked up at his brother with wild eyes - he was certainly taken off guard by the suggestion, very so that he batted his rock accidentally off somewhere. He didn't care though - he just stared at his brother.
Finally, he answered. "Are you.. are you serious?!" He asked, looking over the brown adolescent before him. He wasn't crazy or anything.. not that he was complaining about the chance to see their mother, of course. "You know Dad would kick our asses if we left the pride, you know that. As far as anyone is concerned, Mum doesn't exist anymore."

Novocain was nervous at the idea of leaving. He knew what Meurtrier did to traitors -- but he wasn't a traitor! Neither was Firenze. None of them were. Novocain just knew something wasn't right and he HAD to talk to his mom. He just had to.[/ul][/blockquote]

FIRENZE CALIVER The grey cub sighed and got to his paws, grumbling and frowning the way his father did sometimes. He looked over Novocain and resisted the urge to slap a paw onto his forehead; he was being way way way way too optimistic. And it sounded like a one time thing do quickly and not plan ahead.
He gave a sigh and flicked his tail. "Got a plan?" He asked simply, and that would have been the deciding factor whether he'd go or not.

Novocain said, flicking his tail. "We saw where dad took mum to leave. I know the scents are going to be hard to track, but it's a good challenge, right? We'll ask around, see if anyone saw her wandering around, maybe we'll get .. lucky." It would be their first time leaving Shadow Veldt ever. It was extremely risky. They were young and could even get lost. But it was a risk Novocain was willing to take.[/ul][/blockquote]

FIRENZE CALIVER Firenze thought about it - he was so desperate to see mama again, even if he had the doubts in his stomach that she was crazy and a murderer.. for killing his stepmother's children.. his stepbrother. God damn, it sent shivers down his spine. But ever since he could remember, he loved his mother with all his heart and knew that she was kind enough to not do such a thing.
It was risky to go out alone. They had little hunting practice and they weren't world class trackers.. but Father was away, Ryssor was still recovering and there was no one keeping watch over them. In the end, Firenze would have agreed one way or another. Even if he died out there, he would at least die knowing he tried to bring his mother to justice.
"All right," He said to his brother, giving him a nod. "Let's do it."

Novocain said. Better now than never! He headed off to where Stella had been during the trial. Meurtrier and Jaaku, together boasted over one hundred registered members. Shadow Veldt was big.. but not big enough to hold all of them. He looked around and then casually walked along the same path his father had with Stella, with Firenze at his side. When they were sure no one was looking, he picked up his pace. It wasn't until they reached the border, which stretched out in many places to many distant lands, did Novocain halt to look at Firenze again. "This is it brother, you ready?" He asked, eyes wide. They were about to leave home for the first time, to find their mother, and to bring her justice.[/ul][/blockquote]

FIRENZE CALIVER They followed the fateful path.. where as a young child, Firenze had watched his father sentence his mother to certain solitary doom.. isolation.. away from her kids. It was the worst thing ever. Well, Firenze was going to show that he wasn't like his father, no sir. They were going to find their mother.
He looked to Novocain, and only gave a smirk. "Hell yeah. Let's do it."

He purred and then stepped over the border and into unknown territory. Shadow Veldt rock and grass began to give way to more rock. This rock was dark and warm. It was covered in ash. This transition took half of a day for them. And Novocain was relentless in his scenting. Slowly, something big and menacing came into view. A volcano. Novocain paused and looked at Firenze. "Woah.. wanna go to the top?" He asked. Their lead was sort of dead. Novocain was going to rely on eye-witness accounts now. But.. still. A volcano![/ul][/blockquote]

FIRENZE CALIVER Firenze would be lying if he said his heart was in their exploration at the moment - truth be told, he wasn't. He realised he'd been led along by the good feelings of wanting to find his dear mother again, not even thinking about anything else. But then his stomach tore at him. He wanted to see her, so badly. Either way, he didn't break the peace and just let his brother follow the scent, although he could tell it was getting thinner and thinner as the day rolled by.
Although the young sooty male was the same colour of the ground, he couldn't help but give an audible 'bleh' at the amount of soot and ash he was stepping into as they went through.. wherever they were. Obviously near a volcano of some sort.. and then Novocain spoke up.
Confirmed..
Firenze wrinkled his nose, it being tickled by the ash falling. "Are you kidding me?" He protested. "We can't go up there! We could barely handle the Flame Grotto back home, going near a full and active volcano is suicide! Even if we get there close enough, the heat would kill us.. convection, I think it's called."
He was surprised that he remembered that.

NOVOCAIN
He began to walk with his brother, carefully, around the Volcano. Despite how badly he wanted to go to the top, he knew Firenze was right. Maybe one day when he's older and less likely to die... As they made their way around and past the Volcano, they saw no one. Next up were the marshes. Ashy land gave way to wet rock and then soggy grass and icky mud. This was the land of reptiles in the swamps. A small cluster of trees could be seen in the distance. No doubt it was dangerous. Novocain pushed on. At least until he saw someone resting on a rock. He nudged Firenze and pointed to the lion. Maybe they knew where mother was?[/ul][/blockquote]
