Of course, this would have had to happen sooner or later. And while he was hesitant he also held faith in the civility that should be held during this to carry out. And if not, he'd be proven right.
The King had awoken his sons earlier in the morning, most likely by a few prods or until he woke up. A firm 'get up' may have been tossed in around there a couple times as well. And when he was up, the father would have given Devyn a look that showed the content of what he planned to do. And if that wasn't enough to inform them, he'd tell the son in short details. But in those short details, he would have understood.
So it explained how and why they were where they were now: at the edge of the territory, in a kind of suspension before nothing more than a heavy intake of air warned anyone of the bellow that followed, ringing through the territory. It was not one of aggression, but one to simply say, 'I am here'. He did not progress from there, simply gave Devyn a look of 'no going back now' mixed with 'you're certain?' and facing the territory once more when he knew the answer of the latter, waiting for someone to hear and to investigate it - them.
( hope the skip's alright, figured it can be shoved into one post/also save time. uvu )

RENO DONOVAN
"I know that voice." More like sound. He was alert at once. Was it an attack.. no, no it wasn't. They'd know by now and he knew it wasn't an attack. Then what was it? He shifted his weight and headed for it, sure others would have heard it too. They would need someone of high standing around. Though little did Reno know what this encounter was for, or why now.

Yasbi, Cyber, Jericho, Amai, Camry, Yasha & Devyn Naral Kain-Donovan
That bellowing was familiar to quite a few of them from the first battle and most of the crawled out from their spots that they'd been lurking in, shivering from the cold as they all halted at the sight of two figures. Just two. Funeral was there, the King of Meurtrier with one they had yet to see at all. Curiosity peeked at them, but as of now, they made no hostile movements. However, on sight of Reno coming up, Cyber waved his tail toward his friends who followed him over to the King. "We're gonna go see if this is some trap of some sorts. Patrol the border type thing." He murmured and took off towards the mountains paths to get higher ground. If any Meurtrier were lurking, they would be sure to sound the alarm. So Cyber, Jericho, Amai, and Yasbi took off.
Devyn however, awoke that morning slowly with much prodding and 'get ups' from his dad. A large yawn escaped him before he caught sight of the look his dad was giving him. As if cold water had splashed onto him, Devyn lurched to his paws and followed after. He had not been expecting his father himself to escort him there - but he supposed this way would mean far less time wasted in choosing who to go with him at all. Part of him looked back at Meurtrier and wished Osic and Carnal could come with him, but he shook his head and moved forward, determination egging him on.
The moment they arrived in Arelth, Devyn couldn't help but note how similar this was to his own home, if still very different. He swallowed hard. Part of him was nervous but another glance at Funeral and he calmed down instantly and nodded towards the glance that Funeral gave him. He was sure about this alright. Even the quickly gathering presence of many others didn't deter him from this. He had done no wrong here, he was here for his mother - and he sure as hell wouldn't allow them to hurt his father on his watch just because they were here alone during this war. If they were to break that dishonor, he didn't know what he would do.

Influence & Caylis
Influence couldn't help but stiffen.
What the hell?
He bristled as he followed the others his eyes turning red. The Blood Beast narrowed his eyes. This must've been serious business, and Influence couldn't help but try and expect this.. but why now, and what for?
Caylis heard some commotion and immediately, she sensed Funeral's presence, she blinked, what the hell?! Her eyes widened, was this an attack? Who was with him? So many questions whirled through her mind.

Najisi Kain Najisi was with the cubs as usual. Though this time something was off. She was to take them to fully join the pride today. But she caught a scent on the wind. A scent she wished she'd never have to smell again. Funeral. Her fur bristled and she growled under her breath. An attack? She didn't smell the whole of Meurtrier. None the less she ushered the cubs to hide. She would have to meet this threat. She couldn't hide. Not while she was queen of the pride. Plus, while she still blamed this war on herself, she would be there to try to shield her pride. Leaving the cubs hidden, the ess moved to where the scent was strongest. It seemed to already upset a few others. From the shadows she watched. That male.. He was familiar.. But he also looked like everyone in Meur. She came forwar, her head high and tail slightly raised. She was a dominant. She held authority. She would act like it. No weakness to Funeral. Her eyes narrowed. So far he seemed to come here in terms of a peaceful confrontation. Perhaps a new demand? "Why are you here, Lord of Meur?" She half growled. She expected this to be a trap. Still, the red male beside him looked sofamiliar. Had he not been with Funeral, she likely would have picked up on it sooner.

The commotion was definitely not a surprise, and the King held himself with such pride. At the edge and border of the territory, he felt he was not obliged to make himself respectfully smaller or submissive to them - never mind that he thought them all scum and traitors anyhow. But he caught his tongue quickly, and when Najisi didn't seem to recognize her own son there was perhaps a simple flash of amusement in his gaze before it disappeared; no one would have caught it.
His lips separated to taste the air briefly after his gaze had caught each member that was around in turn before landing on Reno. As Najisi spoke, it was almost difficult to avert his gaze from the Traitor King as he allowed dark emeralds to score directly into her purples without an ounce of hesitation or waver. He inhaled slowly, taking his time. "We both come in peace. We are the only ones here," he began. "If you think me a liar, your efforts will be for naught if you choose to search. The beginnings that there may be others here would lie at the heart of Meurtrier's territory and home." He didn't expect to be believed, and such was found in his voice. It was almost jaded, as though he didn't care what they expected or suspected for that matter.
But his voice became firmer, making no effort to move from the straightened position he was at as he stared at Najisi. "Your son...," he paused, eyes slowly moving to glance at the male beside him without shifting himself before they found Najisi's just as easily once more. "wishes to speak with you. And I have allowed it, if you'll accept his request."

RENO I, NERO II, CALVIN, DARRIUM, TANZEL, OMEN, SIAKON, DAZEON, SLAUGHTER, KANE
Reno turned and gave Cyber a nod. He watched them go, noting that Siakon had dragged Kane along and they chased after the patrol to help out. Others began to rise and take action while the king headed straight for Funeral and the younger figure with him. Najisi beat him to it. Reno walked up beside his mate, scowling at Funeral for coming into their home, after all they had done to La Morte. Call them traitors and then come here so willingly? The king had half a mind to order Funeral attacked and killed.
Patience.
There was a moment where Reno and Funeral locked gazes. Each clearly thinking something the same, of sorts, and Reno wanted to leap at him in that moment. But he wouldn't have that satisfaction yet. Funeral spoke to Najisi this time. Reno didn't move, didn't snort, didn't even change facial expressions as King Funeral explained himself. Eyes fell on Najisi's son - no doubt Funeral's, too - and immediately the idea that this was nothing more than a psychological set up came to mind.
Darrium, Tanzel, and Omen had gathered around to discuss plans on how to hide the children should it be an attack. Darrium and Tanzel decided that their best option was to guard the thick undergrowth and let the cubs hide in there. Darrium and Tanzel's children were adolescents however, they could hold their own with the right opponent. It meant more help when the time came. Something that Darrium would try to object greatly against. His children weren't born with their only purpose to be protecting a pride that had their own queen to blame, in Darrium's eyes. He was still cold and harsh. Too far unforgiving for things that all too often couldn't be helped -- or weren't even the fault of the one he blamed.
Omen departed from them and found Influence. He appeared to be deep in thought, bristling in alarm, angry. She noted his eye color and quietly stepped aside, but near enough to stay with him should anything happen. The lives she carried came to mind - and she prayed this wasn't an attack. But if it was, she.. wasn't sure what she'd do. At her best, a capable fighter, but she was pregnant - and for the first time, too! Omen didn't want to risk anything. So on second thought, she slid back toward the dens, hoping no one would question why.
Slaughter stands near the queen, ready for the dominant's word to attack, should that be the case.

Sinna & Casket
Sinna caught wind of the Meurtrians, and was glued to her mother's side quicker than a hare running from a hawk, though not ungracefully. Her lips curled upward slightly toward the leader when she saw him, the bane of her very existence in the form of one person, though she knew better than to get in an attack mode at this point. As much as she really wanted to draw her lips up more and reveal her pearly whites to him. This was a peace meeting, though she thought it a crock of shit more than anything, her silent curled lip was simply a warning not to disturb it. She wouldn't act further, but she wasn't going to leave her mother's side- not in the face of Funeral.
Casket had also heard the roar, and it's familiarity didn't escape him either... His body shivered, where they under attack again? No, this was non-threatening, shockingly. Though he hadn't been in Meurtrier for a damn long time, there was a tugging at his heart, even through the overwhelming fear of his father. Curiosity would get the best of him, and he left the medic's den, walking just behind his mother cautiously and peeking over her shoulder. The sight of his father gave him mixed feelings, but the mention of his son... Was he talking about him? No no, there was someone beside him. Casket's heart leaped, and for a moment he took a step from behind his mother, catching wide eyes with the other brother he thought he had lost along the way too. He let out a rather loud gasp, louder than his voice usually got. "Devyn?"

Najisi Kain The Queen's eyes widened at Funeral's words. But her ears drew back when Casket moved to declare the familiarity. She growled and nudged her runt-born son hard to tell him to back down and fall in line. So many thoughts filled her. He was alive. Her cubs. All but one accounted for now.. It hurt to even be weary that he could be what Carnal was. That Devyn was here to trick her.. But would Carnal even do that? She wanted to believe Carnal would still refrain from ending her life or using her emotions against her. "Why did he not come alone? Had I come with Casket to see his family, would you have showed even this much generosity, Funeral? Or would you have slaughtered me on the spot?" She asked strongly but not threateningly. She knew if the roles were reversed, she'd have been murdered. She had half a mind to do the same to Funeral. But deep in her heart.. she knew she couldn't kill him. She'd be unable to. Buried under the hurt, the betrayal, and the sorry was still a love for him. She never lost it. Though she now loved Reno whole-heartedly. She couldn't stand to look upon Funeral's corpse.. ever. She knew this, and it was one of the fears about this war she had. She couldn't deprive her cubs of their own father.. Even though she knew he'd not share the same sentiment with her. "I will.. allow my son this privilege. He has a right to it. You are.. Hng.. If you are not trying to lie.. and this isn't a trap.. Then, if Reno agrees, you may be granted Armistice for the duration of your stay, Funeral. That is, if you intend to be my son's escort the entire time. But if you break the armistice.. La Morte will not hesitate to end you." She warned. She knew this would ruffle the feathers of her own pride. But.. Devyn.. and it would look really bad on La Morte if they just outright killed Funerakl when he claimed to be here under peaceful circumstance. But if Funeral chose to stay for how ever long Devyn planned to, there would be eyes on him at all times and he would be confined to the beach. The din't need him knowing the ins and outs of Arelth.

He did not move as a few stragglers wandered into the scene, however his gaze watched as Casket recognized his brother from behind Najisi. There was a blank look, especially as Najisi shoved him back. When she questioned him, his tone was low, at a rumble. Not a growl, not a threat. Her first question seemed to be clear and obvious, so he did not answer it. "I would have allowed it. I'd like the think there is at least some civility between us when it comes to how the war effects not only warriors but families as well."
Although normally not the lenient type, the concern had not come to him until Devyn had shown such concern. When she spoke next, the Quetzalcoatl nodded briefly, perhaps curtly. "Oh, I do not expect us to be here very long. Only long enough for Devyn to get a take on things from a different perspective, as well as anything else that concerns him for that matter," he paused, gaze lingering on those that he could see before landing on Najisi again. "I appreciate the 'hospitality', but I think I'd be alright staying at the border; if such a request is precedented. I do intend on being his escort, and I did not intend on him being taken far into the territory. Just a brief meeting, you know." He was not being demanding, but mostly trying to play his cards right. If La Morte did not care about an armistice and attacked them in the midst of their territory, well.. It was not something he'd place above them to do. He had hardly any trust for the pride, considering why they were at war in the first place.
"I do not expect anything less. If the roles were switched, I'd have warned you of the same thing, Najisi." In response to her warning; there was nary a chance that he wouldn't warn them of something so crucial if the same instance occurred.

My Chars cause I can't remember who's here /shot
The patrol made quick work of searching the borders and Cyber had even taken the time to deviate with Jericho briefly outside of the borders for any other scent a. It was just Funeral and Devyn. With that, they returned quickly home and Jericho and Cyber lopped over to their respective sibling as they murmured their findings. After Cyber turned to face the pride and shook his head at them all. No one else was here but these two. There was no trap.
However being on the patrol meant they missed a few things, so neither knew what to expect out of this meeting.
Devyn - who had been silent for the majority of it all, huffed a quick "our son" under his breath and then stepped forward now with a quick glance to his father and a brush of his pelt. Casket - seeing his brother that had disappeared after so long safe with their mother... He envied Casket. Casket would get to know their mother in a way he would not. But he was glad to see his brother again - and alive and well at that. However he had been silent for far too long now. So he spoke up now - approaching this with far more sensibility than probably any of his siblings had. Even though it was far more tempting to shout 'MOM' and run to her - he could not do so... Even as tempted as he was to address his dad cassualy as well, he still couldn't do that. He had to be professionally polite now.
"Mother, Father, I know you both have your differences, but we can at least agree to keep hostilities out of this." His father had shown no hostilities - but he wouldn't address his mother in that statement alone. His pink eyes flecked with green landed on his mother though, and a small smile tugged at his lips. "I asked Father if I can come here. He agreed on the base that someone come with me - but honestly, I am glad to have him here now. So that at least once as an adult, I can see my parents within the same vicinity."
He breathed in deeply and then released it. "Along with that request, I asked Da- Father," He hoped no one noticed the slip up. "To not take part of this war. I have family on both sides - family unknown," He paused to glance at those that had an uncanny relation to his mother such as Sinna, "And family I do know." His eyes landed on Casket then his mother once more. "Father has explained his side of things, and as his and your son, I'm asking to hear your side as well. If," To hell with it, saying 'Father' was just to weird for him, "D If dad's word is not good enough, then at least believe mine." Throughout his entire little monologue his features merely softened as he gazed upon his mother for the first time in ages. His mother and brother really. How he loved them both, but could never truly get to know them was beyond him. But he would fully take advantage now.

Casket
Casket yelped and whined a bit as he was pushed back, and he assumed a submissive position. Perhaps he had over-stepped, embarrassingly, but he was simply excited... He missed his siblings, and perhaps today he would catch up with one of them, one that actually seemed reasonable in comparison to the rest of his feuding family... Sinking to a sit behind his mother, he patiently waited for an 'okay' or whatever was about to happen, he would wait until he could speak to do so.

Najisi Kain Najisi sighed when she saw Casket's reaction. She only wanted to keep him from a possible trap. She listened to what both Funeral and her son had said. Not a long visit? Did Funeral honestly think an hour or so would be long enough? Granted she didn't like the thought of the enemy spending more than an hour here as it were, but this was her son.. Her Devyn. "What you seek can't come in simple words, Devyn. You need to see who we are to understand.. I will gladly explain everything.. But you will need to /see/ our side as well, if you truly want an understanding." She said quietly. She hoped he'd understand that what she meant might take a couple of days. This whole thing was made complicated by Funeral's escort. She had so much she wanted to ask Devyn.. About Carnal.. about Zenith.. But could she do that with Funeral so close?

Devyn & My LM Chars
The patrol half-dispersed into different sections of where the pride stood, watching, but quiet.
The silence however, to Devyn, was near suffocating. He didn't know what anyone who was staring at him was thinking - these were not creatures he knew for a long time, or at all really. He saw Cyber, he recalled him a bit, but not much. Like Reno and Cyber, most of the creatures who had come here from Meurtrier to La Morte - to him - had been scarce back in Meurtrier and he had no feelings toward them. But as his words were considered and then replied to, Devyn couldn't help but ponder over Najisi's words. His mother's words.
Why did he have to see their side? As a pride it wasn't as if they were any different than Meurtrier - in his mind. All prides within their members were the same. If one could actually stand up and get to know the higher ups and leaders, anyone could see in either pride they weren't so bad. Decisions were made for reasons. But... He blinked. Was his mother asking him to stay? He didn't know if he could do that. This was not his home. Arelth was not his home. Shadow Veldt was. La Morte was not his home. Meurtrier was. He was born there. Raised there. His father cared for him there. Devyn was sure Najisi would have cared for him the same if given the chance but that time had come and gone and there was no use looking back in the past in his eyes.
He took a deep breath in and flicked his gaze around at all those standing here. So many of them. He didn't trust them. His mother? Sure. He knew his mother would not hurt him - or Funeral while he was here, but the others? His eye twitched. Well, his mother had given the word and to go ignore that word as pride members would have her one furious son and furious mother for infuriating said son. Funeral and him would come out of this alive and safe. It was a long moment of silence as he pondered his own thoughts. Another deep breath and he turned to his father, brushing against him and pressing his head against his father's shoulder. "I'll be back soon." He told him quietly. A pause and then he tacked on, "And I'll be fine." He shook his pelt then and stepped forward, looking at his mother.
"Let's go for a walk. Just you and I." Pink eyes flecked with green flickered in excitement briefly at the prospect of spending quality time with his mother, but he couldn't forget his brother. His gaze flicked to Casket then, "And maybe later on, if there's time, you can join us." He offered a small smile then, and brushing against his father as he moved to his other side, turning so he could prompt his mother to begin walking with him as he took a few steps toward her. He wouldn't disrespect his father's wishes and go inside Arelth territory - where.. Even though he trusted his mother, they could possibly hold him captive while they took his father out. His mother was one person. The pride was huge and many in numbers.

RENO I, NERO II, CALVIN, DARRIUM, TANZEL, OMEN, SIAKON, DAZEON, SLAUGHTER, KANE
Everyone else, once assured the queen and king had it handled, went to patrol or back to their previous duties.
Funeral was there. Within his grasps. Yet Reno couldn't do anything and this was a peace meeting of some sort. It sounded quite ridiculous to him. And then there was the kid - Devyn. Reno didn't like him. Seemed a bit ballsy and far too confident. Reno watched Devyn invite Najisi to go with him, and Reno pressed into his mate. "Be safe. I'll stay here with.. him." Reno's eyes were glued to Funeral. He wouldn't act upon any impulses, the desire to end the war with Funeral at their doorstep, simply because Najisi and her son wanted some peace.
And so far, Funeral had not done anything .. so far.
