Stain "Donovan" Stain had been rather worried of late. Everything seemed so dramatic with her pride these days. She tried her best to avoid the war. She had her reasons. Perhapse some even made her a traitor in definition. But she wouldn't betray Meur. Or her father. Meurtrier was still her home. With her belly swollen, it was clear Stain had more than grudge reasons to avoid the war. Fracture had already fallen. Something the albino didn't take too lightly. While their union was merely a fling, he still promised to be there for her cubs. And who knows where that might have led? A friendship? She desperately needed a strong bond within the pride, yet it had been ripped away from her. With the group starting out on their journey, the night was young. And oh what a night it would be. Funeral had made a few stay behind just in case, so the dens were likely a bit too busy for the antisocial gal. Her stomach soon knotted and she slunk away to be alone. Hours later, behind the dens in her seclusion, Stain lay exhausted. Her first time being a mother. Six cubs. Healthy and suckling. A bittersweet moment. She loved them. The bond was instant, but she was inexperienced and fearful. Could she do this alone? She wouldn't alert the p;ride, though. The last thing she wanted was her cubs being inspected to make sure they were worthy. So here she remained. Alone in the dark exhausted from birth.

Neraine
The young newborn squirmed, shifted, mewled and then settled as she suckled greedily after birth. Her tiny paws kneaded strongly against her mothers belly and she snuggled into the depths of the warmth provided by her mother.

Warning mild gore?Stain The exhausted mother smiled as her cubs wiggled around her. She was happy. Something she hardly ever felt in her life. Sadly, that happiness was shattered. She yowled as she felt her body's insides knot and twist. A few of the lesser organs bursting. An excrutiating demise. What was wrong with her? Blood began to trickle from her. In any way it could. Bruises began to form in areas where blood was pooling internally. Then with one violent wretch, The contents of her stomach: Bile and blood, splattered onto her paws and the ground. Her stomach had ruptured. She would be gone from this world soon. She shook violently, suddenly feeling so cold. She looked to her cubs and whimpered. No.. Her babies. Would they..? Was she? A figure caught her attention. Just barely and she turned her head to face it. Nerante. Blood drooled from her lips as tears ran from her eyes. The white fur stained pink and showing the black and purple bruising easily. She knew. She didn't know how.. But she knew it was him... Not that it mattered. She knew what was to come. "W-why....?" She whispered to him pleadingly. Her esophagus churned and she vomited another round of blood. This blood different. Almost black. It was the signal of the end. Her last thoughts on this earth were about her dad.. her sister.. and most definitely her cubs. She lay her head in her own blood and curled around the cubs with the last ounce of strength she had. She made sure to keep all six clean and unbothered. She'd never get to see them grow.. They'd never know her.. Tears mixed with the red and caused it to trickle out of the den slightly. Perhaps a tree may grow there, and she could guard her cubs for eternity. Finally, Stain's heart stopped. The pain ceased, and everything was black. Save for the fading image of her newborn cubs.

All had been right in the world at first. The newborn shifted contently at his mother's belly and suckled hungrily. This went on for a while until his mother began to writhe in pain, and then lay still. Sensing something awry, Eightball opened his jaws and let out a frightened, raspy mewl. The moment was incomprehensible to the new life, but all he knew was discomfort in the grasp of a stranger. A beginning, and an end.

ODYSSEIA, NERANTE, COCAINE
Cocaine frowned and pushed past Ody, and peered in. What he saw was.. confusing, at first, he didn't know what to make of it. Stain, his daughter, and Stain's newborns. Cocaine could only faintly recall that she'd been pregnant, it was one of the few things that slipped his mind while busy, and now she was dead. "What happened?" His tone quiet. Odysseia had a hard time telling what the commander was feeling. She pointed toward the blood. "She bled out.. first time mother, lots of cubs.. stress of war.." Odysseia grabbed another cub, but Cocaine placed a paw in front of her, and then reached the grab the cub himself. It was the nameless one. He took it from Odysseia and moved to help take his grandchildren to their new den. After all of the cubs had been moved, he glared at Nerante. This had to be his doing, somehow, but why? Cocaine glanced back at where Stain's lifeless body rested, and sighed. "Leave me be with her." Cocaine, suddenly, sounded very exhausted. Nerante grunted, dipped his head, and moved back to his den. His work was done. Odysseia nodded and made her way to the throne. They would need to mark Stain as a deceased member of Meurtrier. At least her cubs made it thought. Back in the den, Cocaine curled up on the cleaner side of Stain. It was hard to tell what he was feeling. He leaned in and quietly spoke to Stain. "I'm so sorry I wasn't there for you." Cocaine murmured and ran his tongue over her. Stain would be presented for mourning, and she needed to be clean. Stella should be here; yet she wasn't. Cocaine would need to send word to her, so she knows of Stain's death. And of their grandchildren.[/ul][/blockquote]

Caesar As distant as the ocean. As quiet as the dead. Caesar liked to be alone. Something of an introvert or other. There were rarely times in which the ebony furred, young boy would desire company, especially of siblings. They were noisy and arrogant, pushy and smelly. Mother was a darling dear, but her protective nature was too overbearing for young Caesar. Father was not a hugely prominent figure in Caesar's life, which was much to his liking. With the war an ever present figure in Cocaine's life, Caesar easily avoided an overabundance of contact with his commander.
Then this was a rare occasion. His little brown mane had begun to come in at last. It was something he took private pride in, and so he wanted to show it off to his father and mother. He had not yet encountered Ryssor, but Cocaine was hard to miss. A giant loaf plundering about Shadow Veldt. Beside him stood the tiny queen Odysseia. Caesar arrived as both Odysseia left. He made sure to give them a wide gap, as to avoid any sort of verbal communication. Navy eyes were glued on the den that Cocaine had entered.
It smelled vile. Like blood, vomit, and crap. Yet Caesar did not hesitate as he poked his head inside of the den. What he saw, at first, had him speechlessly wide-eyed. The fur along his spine rose like prickly thorns. "Father? What happened?" Caesar's tone dripped with curiosity. He was unaware that Stain, the deceased, had been an older half sibling. This was because he had spent so much time away from family. There was never a chance for a bond to form.

SORA, RYSSOR Sora squeaked, as she was born into the world. She had no idea what was going on, what went on, what happened to her mother.. all she felt was being picked up and carried away. She didn't care. She just wanted food as soon as possible.
--
Ryssor had followed Cocaine along, hearing the news that yet another one of his children had given birth. A momentous occasion, and the proud father wanted nothing more than to see his grandchildren. She understood that. Stain wasn't her daughter so she didn't feel the pride of being a grandmother, but she had to be happy for her mate.
And so they came to a close in the den, and already she spotted Odyessia at the den. Why was the queen there? Suddenly, she felt a bad feeling in her gut and in an instant, Cocaine had barged in. Passing by was Nerante, taking the cubs to the other den, and she quickly broke eye contact with him.
She didn't want the day to be spoiled more. She was about to follow in, letting the queen go about things as well, but then Caesar appeared. Momentarily, she was surprised; despite being his mother, she had never seen much of him. He was always a private and quiet boy, so seeing him out and speaking was a surprise. She gave a small sigh and looked to the den as well.
"I don't know.. I think something.. I think something went horribly wrong."
She used a paw to guide Caesar in slowly, and she followed. Standing behind Cocaine, and then she saw the full damage. The air stank of death, bile, blood.. bleh. She had bled out.
Ryssor felt her stomach churn at the sight. I'm so lucky that didn't happen to me.. christ.. poor Stain..
Her gaze went up to Cocaine, who suddenly asked everyone to leave. Nodding and understanding, she began to turn around.

COCAINE CALIVER
There was no point, in Cocaine's opinion, to obscure the truth. Caesar was more than old enough to know what had happened. As Ryssor began to leave, he let out a chuff to invite her back. "Love, I spoke only to the medic and our queen, you may stay." His tone was quiet yet inviting. [/ul][/blockquote]

Caitlyn Caliver
Before blood had spilled later on that night, Caitlyn found herself wandering about - but some scent had pulled her away from her thoughts. Her gaze flicked upwards to where there was commotion in the distance. Odysseia? Nerante? Followed by her father and Ryssor soon after... Her gut twisted anxiously but she was loathe to approach them. She hadn't seen them carrying off the cubs or anything, just her dad entering the den. Slowly she approached, making she to keep her face and expression curious and concerned. Watching Odysseia walk off to the throne she paused and called out softly after her. "M'lady, what happened?" Her eyes, a copy of her father's, flicked to the den again, wanting so badly to go in and find out but still wary and cautious all the while. She had a feeling she wasn't going to like what she heard.

COCAINE CALIVER, ODYSSEIA
Odysseia waited to see how Caitlyn would react. Losing a sibling was hard. Odysseia knew this... all too well.[/ul][/blockquote]

Caitlyn Caliver
Caitlyn's world seemed to slow frame by frame at Odysseia's words. Stain? Stain is her sister, yeah. But what about Stain? Her eyes slowly left the Meurtrier Queen's form and drifted to the den where she stared at where Ryssor was hanging half in half out. Her heart clenched painfully. What was wrong with Stain? Step by slow step, Caitlyn forgot Odysseia was standing there as she made her way to the den. She forgot Ryssor was there, she didn't notice Cesear standing there. She only had eyes for what was inside that den.
Her breath came in harsh pants as the world seemed to close around her with near invisible force and seemed to constrict at her lungs, her muscles bunched up. The fight or flight response seemed to take over here as adrenaline coursed through her veins and she pushed passed Ryssor without a thought as she peered inside. And if were even more possible, the world seemed to diminish even more. She stared, jaw gaping, her eyes stinging with unknown tears as they began to leak out, one first, then another. And another and another.
She managed to suck in a sharp gasp, but it escaped her in a harsh sob. She had just gotten her sister back. Had just reconciled with her and had just spoken to her not long ago... How... How could this happen? She had cubs to take care of... She couldn't be.. "NO!" Her jaw trembled as she ignored everyone else around her, uncaring of the dirty ground as her legs seemed to collapse beneath her and she crawled to Stain. "nonononono you can't be gone..." Sobs wracked her body as she shoved her head in Stain's fur.

Evangeline Caliver
The girl walked up, noticing the scene. She tilted her head, looking up to Coke and Ry, then to Caesar questioningly. "W-what happened..?" she murmured, her gaze then turned to Caitlyn, who was sobbing over her half sister, Stain. Her eyes gleamed with sadness and fear and she turned away, to push the images out, but it didn't work. She then started to whimper and nuzzle her mother and her father, she then started to hide behind her father, lashing her tail uncomfortably. She then sighed, shaking her head in sadness, this was her half sister.. and she felt so bad. She shifted her paws uneasily, she then dipped her head in mourning, shedding a few tears as they slowly started to trickle down her face. Mother always told her that it was alright to show emotions and this was no different, even if she and Stain never reacted, she was family.
The sad thing was, those images would scar Evangeline for life.
