DarkMoon Misty Donovan
It had not been too long after the storm started that it seemed to be storming constantly in the Veldt. Rainy week, the female supposed. It had also not been long since her return and while she learned it was in the midst of a war, in the midst of complete turmoil for a pride as large as this, she found being back home peaceful. The red 'ess smiled softly as she took her time walking in the rain. It always soothed her when she was in this state - and she was pretty much doing all she could to stay away from males. She wanted nothing to do with them, all of then having proved to be complete jack-asses who wanted a quickie.
Which is probably why she found herself at the edge of the Veldt instead of near everyone else. When this heat stage was all over she would go back. For now, she'd had enough heat moments so far to know how to handle them - even if instinct drove her mad to find a quickie herself. DarkMoon sighed gently. It really did feel good to be back in her own home though. No one knew of her past deeds except Donato and DarkStar - her son and father. And no one ever would. Not if she had anything to say about it at least. She just hoped that things would be okay after a while. Sitting down, she over looked the lands, smiled, then closed her eyes and looked to the sky, letting the gentle mist of after rain hit her face. [/font]  |

DarkMoon's eyes snapped open and she tilted her head to another male that had approached her in this weather. She raised a brow at him, her smile dropping from her face. "Hey." She flicked her tail in invitation. Company was never a bad thing, but she wondered.... Yeah probably for that reason. "What are you doing all the way out here?" He was red, but she could barely catch whiff of his scent - not Donovan. So he wasn't family. More than likely attracted by her scent. So for now, it didn't make her curious about him, at least nor by much. But it did make her wary.

DarkMoon chuckled in response. "I understand that more than you know." She turned her gaze away from looking him over to look up at the still misting sky. "I've been a part of Meurtrier for a long time, but I left with my son when Former - a past leader - died by some slave." She paused, her nose crinkling. "Still can't believe he's taller than me. Even though I had had him when I was hut a teenager." She finally looked at him again. "My name is DarkMoon. You're not a Donovan, so you are?" She tilted her head curiously.

Darkmoon snorted at his joke and then shook her head softly. "I'd say I agree to that if I knew not all my cubs grew to be taller than me. Thanks to my mother I'm kind of on the short side." She replied then for the first time offered a small smile. "Nice to meet you, then, Kodiac." His name rolled off her tongue, unintentional, but hormones couldn't help the teasing lilt she put on some of her words. "And my son brought me back. Him and my father. Donato was the Commander - incredibly young - but Former still chose him. He misses it. My father likes to check up on things, but he'll probably wander off after a month or two. Or stay and fight considering the war. Its always been in his blood to do so. I go where my son goes though. I love my children, all of them. When they're old enough they make their own choices, and so most of them have left Donato and I to make their own lives I suppose. But Donato has always stuck around and I adore him for doing so." She slid her gaze over to him again. "So you have kids?" She wondered at his response to what she said about being family oriented, but she also wondered if he was the same - so far it sounded like it.

[/i] Flirt like tone noted. "Donate was commander, huh? I can only imagine what it feels like to return and see you no longer have such a position ready for you.. I guess it's to be expected, but that must still burn. It'd be nice if your father stayed around. I assume he's a very nice man?" Kodiac asked. She could reply when she felt fit, he continued on as not to ignore her question. "I do. Estavan, Kazbek, and Iarri. They're my pride and joy. I've no mate.. no interest for one, I admit, but I do love my children and I want what's best for them at all times. I wish.. I wish their mother.." He sighed, trying to gently play on the drama. "Sorry. Just their mother.. she was a nice girl, and I respected her once. But she didn't treat our children as I would have liked.. left the pride once for a crazy mission when the kids were young. I think it effected them negatively. Mates we are or not, I think the common desire for the young to be loved should be.. well, common." He said.[/ul][/blockquote] |

Darkmoon flicked her ears forward and showed the same respect he showed her, blue eyes glistening as he spoke. She gave a small laugh when he said it must have burned for him to not return to an open position and then smiled when he continued on about his kids. Three precious ones. She nodded in reply when he finished and took a moment to gather her words.
"Donato feared being looked down upon when he could not hold up to pride standards. I was able to reassure him that no one would look badly at a teenager for not being able to keep up. After a small while he came to terms with it, and I asked if he was sure he wanted to come back, he told me he wouldn't expect to be remembered, or expect to regain his position. He told me that he understands he would have to prove himself again to be considered for such. I couldn't have been more proud when he came to the realization that he was not at fault for what happened then." She paused here to wet her throat and then hmm'd softly. "I do not look for a mate either. No male has proved worthy enough to care for my cubs to stick around as mate. But you are right, being mates or not does not matter, cubs area wondrous gift of life and should be cared for immensely. Your three precious, little ones should not have been seemingly abandoned by their mother at a young age. That is indeed a shame." Her voice was soft. Far more warm and inviting than it had been moments ago as they spoke of cubs and their young.

[/i] Kodiac said with a wink, though it was very sincere. Darkmoon was clearly a mother of great worth. And she wouldn't be an easy fool. Perhaps.. she was not worth manipulating heavily. She'd actually raise the young healthily.. perhaps, she deserved Kodiac's deep respects. Yes. This seemed likely. "I'm glad you agree with me. Not many seem to.. my son, Estavan, I worry about him. He stresses over me. I try to calm him, but .. I try, and that's what matters, isn't it?" He lifted his gaze to her own, curious of what Darkmoon thought of that. Darkmoon chuckled again. "My son has grown as such, thank you. And aren't you quite the charmer?" She teased. Then the 'ess listened as he spoke of his son, and knew as he raised no more information about the mother that he wished to say no more on her. It made her respect him slightly. That he would not bad mouth his kids mother was a worthy note, and she licked her lips a moment. She had no idea what was going through his head of course, but she knew as a parent herself she could offer advice.
"My kids father was never around, so I understand in a way what that's like. I didn't go off to another guy, but I didn't attach myself to him either. That litter is my only litter so far. However... Trying is all you can do for your kids, that and being honest with them, and letting them know you are always there for them no matter what. The rest is up to them. They may not be pleased that you have left their mother, but you have your reasons, especially if you were not mated with her, as I was not mated with the father of Donato."
She looked at him thoughtfully. "Just let them know even if you bring more cubs to this world you do not do so carelessly - at least, I hope you don't. And that even with these new cubs you'll still love your current kids as much as the new cubs too. Let them know you won't abandon them. As much as parents like us wish to give everything to our children, we can only try and hope that they accept us for who we are as they learn us." And with that she gave him a warm smile. He was a loving parent. he cares greatly for his kids. That was note worthy.

Darkmoon laughed freely this time. "No I don't think that would be a good thing to say to any child in the drama stages," She gasped out, shaking her head in pure amusement. "But yes, you're right about that. And one parent is better than none." DaekMoon took liberty to lay down at this point, rolling over to her side, enjoying the cool grass. "In any case I'm sure you're a wonderful father."

DarkMoon grinned as he followed her actions, and went ahead and rolled onto her back, paws in the air. She wondered a bit if it was driving him mad. She'd had practice resisted guys despite what hormones said, but it didn't bother her all that much. "And thank you, too. Charmer." Once more she tossed the word at him, then titled her head to get a better look at him as she answered his question. "Pretty much, we all wanted to see the world type thing, so that's what we did. Went to some pretty cold places, some really hot ones, and some places that compared even to here in beauty. I must admit I have a thing for waterfalls. They're gorgeous." She laughed a bit at that, some distant memory glossing over her eyes as she remembered. "Its always been quite the adventure." She blinked off the daze. "And you? Before coming here, what did you do?"
