Daemon ' Kane' DonovanThe dark male lay alone in the quiet confines of the royal's den, eyes half-lidded as the sun slowly started to cut between the few slitted openings of the makeshift curtain, curled up with his nose buried in his brother's nest, once chilled with his absence but now warmed by his own body heat, taking in the comfort of his scent while he was away, no mistake about it, coming through strong enough to calm his fears. He'll be back before he knew it. He just needed to have faith.
Eventually though, the pride was rousing itself for the day's activities, pointed audits hearing voices just outside, and so he had no choice but to get out of bed as well, though he hadn't been able to sleep much of a wink last night anyways, giving a lazy stretch of each limb in turn and a low grumble of complaint.
Taking a moment to scrub his face clean of any last traces of exhaustion with the side of his paw, he finally emerged with a yawn, all fangs, making himself comfortable to now sit up at the throne, a trained eye watching down below, Titus already trying to take more initiative upon himself since he'd first joined and rallying a morning hunt. And so it went on like this for another moment or two before someone else caught his attention, making themselves known. "Odysseia." He chuffed almost hesitantly, hoping to make clear his intentions that he wished to speak with her if she had the chance. Her wise words were more than welcomed to him during these tense past few days, keep him grounded, growing -- Surprisingly enough -- Rather reliant on her company, as she had the experience he lacked.

ODYSSEIA
A part of her would always be queen. It was a role that she never wanted, thrust upon her by the union of she and Funeral, but perfected with little effort. Her movements were no far different than her comrades, yet she was often painted in a graceful light. "King Daemon." She responded with a respectful nod as she moved in his direction. Odysseia had been about to take a walk to think about life, as she did often in the morning if not by the throne. Now she rounded for the throne to accompany Daemon. katluver458

Daemon ' Kane' DonovanGood, she heard him. A brief smile and a nod in greeting were given to the councilwoman, standing up now out of habit more than anything, stubborn respect for her from his first days returning to the Kingdom, the red end of his tail twitching, beckoning her closer if she wished. He didn't have any particularly private matters to discuss, so it wasn't like they had to hide away, he could just use the company right about now, so he didn't have to act so closed off, though in the end everyone was out of earshot here anyways. "Good morning. I trust you had a restful sleep?" The younger offered. "I've noticed you usually like to take your solo-patrols right about now, so I won't try to keep you waiting for long if you can spare the time." hella BD)

ODYSSEIA
"Good morning! Thank you. I did rest well. I hope you did too." She smiled and bowed her head and sat down once they had come together. "I'm good actually; the veldt won't go nutty if I miss one solo patrol." Odysseia said. She didn't mind missing a patrol to get to know one of the kings. After all, it was as if she hardly knew him, yet respected him for his position.

Daemon ' Kane' DonovanHis muzzle wrinkled a bit at the returned question, nothing but harmless intent, but still it made his whiskers twitch. "Like a newborn." He lied, though his tone was halfhearted. Either way, he wouldn't let himself sit on it for long, to just wallow. It was a new day, he should try to make the best of it. He wanted to have a story or two to tell his brother when he came home after he was done playing hero and vanquishing the 'Great and Terrible Evil'. Not that anything out there was worse than their Kingdom. "No, of course not." He chuckled, once again grateful for her unfailing cooperation. "I actually wanted to talk to you about something." He trailed off, growing quiet, giving an idle shrug. "About the King before myself and Orpheus. Not Cocaine,"
"About my older brother." kahara

ODYSSEIA
The counciless nodded her head slowly as she seemed to consider her words with great care. If she suspected anything more or less of his words, such thoughts weren't voiced, and well concealed by her curious gaze.
"What of Funeral?" She asked.

Daemon DonovanHer usual calm, steadfast reaction eased his worries. He knew how difficult it was for Mother to talk about Morpheus after he disappeared, probably dead after he and Orpheus were bigger cubs with a few of their other older siblings around to help her take care of them. He figured Funeral was a sore spot for the Councilwoman, and that she wouldn't want to remember a lost love. And it might have been, though she didn't say or show it just yet. But curiosity was always one of his weaknesses, and he wanted to learn more about this beautiful, large family he was now a proud part of, to make up for lost time. "What was he like? Was he a good King?" He hummed.

ODYSSEIA
"He was." She started with a sparkle in her eye as memories were recalled. Odysseia thought back to their private moments and out to the others. "Funeral was brave and strong. He always wanted what was best for the pride. Quiet though. He didn't talk much with the pride itself, but he cared and I know he did. Above that he was an even better mate." She slowly nodded her head and then looked back at Daemon. "What spikes this curiosity now?"

Daemon Donovan The King could see it plain as day, could hear it in her tone. And it near made his heart break for her to know that something that sounded so incredible between them -- Someone so amazing like her mate...His own brother could be destroyed in an instant. "I can only imagine. I wish I could have met him." It was a harsh reality, to learn just how fragile the most important things in life were. It only made him worry worse for Orpheus in that moment, and the close relatives that kept returning home where they belonged. Gah, he was stressing so much over this. Tossing his head, a quick rustle of the mane to shake it off, he shrugged. "Oh. Well, I have a big family, clearly. But unfortunately, being raised outside of the pride, I never got the chance to know any of them but a pawful. I want to know them." Maybe she could help, maybe not, but it was worth a shot.

ODYSSEIA
She bowed her head to acknowledge his first words. Funeral had been a great king and mate. If only many more had met him, yet... she wasn't one to expand on family. The need to know everyone in the blood was foreign and, for her, unrealistic.
"I see. You were raised outside of the pride? Why?" Odysseia asked, realizing she knew little of their current kings.

Daemon DonovanAnother shrug at the obvious question. "I don't know. Ma's dead, so I can't ask her." He quipped. "After she dropped off one of my many brothers to be raised by Marlene under my nephew Former's care, and after the Great Disaster that sent some of us away," He started. "She found out she was pregnant with Orpheus and I and tried to come home, but apparently that didn't work out to her plan, so she set off again. Found Father, and had us." That's all there was to it really, no great tale or grand scheme. "He disappeared again, and it ended her, I think. She loved him, even if her time as the White Queen didn't much show it, according to what I've heard from some." Not that Odysseia would know -- She came into the picture after Najisi apparently, correct? And Funeral had just come to power when Oaish returned the second time, possibly to retrieve that 'lost' cub. "And what about you? You're not from the Kingdom originally." He offered with a curious, interested twitch of the whiskers. "What's your story, my Lady Odysseia Dakasa?"it was splinter's dimitri lol a little miniplot that kinda crashed and burned))

ODYSSEIA
"I see." Odysseia nodded her head as she listened. "An interesting story you have. Twisting in many ways. Most of which I don't understand, so pardon any ignorance on my behalf. My story isn't much more interesting. I was born to a mother of the night, dark as a moonless sky. Alongside my brother, Fracture. He and I were inseparable." She recalled him with a great fondness, that left a bitter remorseful taste in her mouth. "I knew my father only through what my mother told my brother and I. He was an unwell feline of few words, but he cared with a fiery passion. Not sure of what he passed."
She paused to consider the rest and to wonder of the past.
"When my brother and I were old enough to travel on our own, we did. Our mother wished us farewell and we were off. Then I found Meurtrier. At first my brother didn't join, but when I became queen, he did so out of respect." Odysseia paused and frowned. "Maybe had he not joined, he'd still be alive."

Daemon DonovanThe younger gave an indifferent shrug. Whoever might possibly have any inkling from that far back -- Such as a Vampire female named Mahya something or other from back in the day? Weren't even around anymore. Members may come and go, but the good thing about Donovan's usually was the fact that family lasts forever, whether they left and came back or not as well. "No trouble at all." He responded, before she in turn started to give her own history. He could only imagine she looked much like her mother, but of course substituting the black pelt for her tanned colored self.
His shoulders rolled when she continued, unable to recall ever seeing or meeting this Fracture-brother of hers. Though just as quick yet again, he was chiding himself for pressing into such obviously painful matters for her. There were times he really needed to learn to bite his tongue before he got himself in too deep. "Ah. Erhm..." He cleared his throat, unsure what he could try to do to remedy the situation, other than offer a probably hollow apology. "I'm sorry." It was worth a shot anyways. "I'm sure he was a brave male, and every bit as crucial to the Kingdom as you were when you sat as Queen. We were lucky to have you both." The male's gaze softened a bit, but then, something occurred to him and he couldn't help a smirk. "And I'd bet my next meal that Funeral couldn't keep his eyes off you when you first walked into camp, hm?" He grunted coyly, hoping to still make light of her tale.

ODYSSEIA
"It's well. He has a legacy. Children I call my own." And unbeknownst to her, some of them were Nerante's. Perhaps a mess that would never be cleared up completely. "And not really." Odysseia corrected him, though seemed lightened by the question. "We didn't pay each other mind at first. He was my king and I a subordinate. We spent time together and talked, however, and thus our bond formed."

Daemon DonovanHe nodded slowly, a few of them coming to mind from when Coke was still King. "I remember. Stagnant and her siblings, yes? A good bunch." He stated, more for confirmation than anything. "How is the boy, Slither doing?" Dae also remembered that one male cub in particular always being rather sickly. But he hadn't heard much of anything on his status as of late, though since nothing was said, surely he was still alive and at least partially well?
Then, clearly his suspicions about Funeral being just as much a hardass as he and Orpheus were confirmed at the fact that he kept things so tense and formal between he and his future-unbeknownst Queen at the start. "I can't say I'm surprised. Mother said my father was the same way at first. I suppose somehow they eventually just...Saw something in eachother."
